More Fun? Pistol or Lever-Gun?

I actually have a Savage (USA made by the way) and it is just as well finished as my two model 70's that I bought before (metal work) I got a Savage. I should be able to find the pistol for cheaper than $600, but if I buy it off the internet, is it a hassle?

I vote for the handgun. I also echo those that suggested trying one out first. It's not a gun that fits every hand.

I won a certificate for a CZ six months ago and have yet to redeem it..........they just don't move me very much.

$600 seems high for a CZ, also.

I'd look at a Springfield XD or even a Glock, whichever fits you better.

And I'd suggest revisiting the IDPA or IPSC idea........it's a good way to get better with your handgun.

If you've got access to open shooting country, go for the Marlin. I've got one and really like it but I live in Los Angeles so my pistols get more action than my long guns. What good is a rifle at 25 yards anyway?

I was thinking about this and I got to say the .44 is an excellent brush gun for25-65 yard opening snap shots, Make no mistake the Marlin .44 is just about perfect.

I have 15 pistols so far, and my CZ-75 has become a trusted favorite. It's not the prettiest, but it does what it's supposed to do very well. I also have a CZ rifle that is a favorite of mine (9.3x62).

Lever guns are fun! I only have one (older Winchester '94 30/30) but have come really close to buying another one (in .357 or .45). I'll get another one eventually....

My advice: flip a coin! Then buy both! :-)

Good shooting,

Thanks for all the replies guys. I have shot pistols before, and found that I like SA/DA pistols the best. I have not even held the CZ, but I do plan on holding it and comparing it before I purchase one. Does anyone own a CZ75B and a CZ SP-01? The price difference is around $100-$150 and I was wondering if it is worth it. Thanks.

i have fooled with a CZ75 a little (a bud owns one) and they are "ok" imho, kinda large and heavy for edc but not too bad i suppose. if ya must have SA/DA check out a SIG also if ya can.

of the rifle and pistol listed i would go with the CZ i suppose.

The DA/SA style gun requires you to pay close attention anytime you shoot it. Especially when you're done shooting, but still have ammo in the gun.

Did you remember to decock the hammer? Are you SURE ? Sure enough to risk your left nut???

One reason Glocks became so popular so fast was they were easy to understand. Want to shoot, put finger on trigger and pull. Want to stop and make the gun safe? Take your finger OFF the trigger. Nothing else needs to be done.

.

I would also go with the CZ, I have a CZ75 I've had for about 5 years. It has been a good honest proven shooter. If you want to buy an American handgun get a Ruger auto, great guns for the price but watch out for the 45's they can really bruise up the web of your hand. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I enjoy shooting my various rifles but find pistol more fun especially shooting steel plates. But neither can beat a shotgun and shooting clays.

Perfect. Couldnt have said it better....and thats why Glocks are IMHO the Most unsafe handgun in the world. As both a Investigator and Instructor,I can tell you from first hand experience that You Better pay close attention everytime you break leather, pick up,handle or shoot a firearm. The most dangerous handgun is an unloaded handgun. There are a few places on a handgun you can place a safety device. The biggest safety is the human finger. For that reason, the last place to place a safety device is on the trigger assembly.

I know alot of you guys love your glocks, please do so.They are neat, shoot great, carry better, can be dressed up, etc etc. I am not bagging on your firearm so dont get upset. I believe glocks are for experienced shooters ONLY.
