More images of the S30V Loveless style chute knife

Keith,
Awesome chute knife.
Big thumbs up to both you and Bruce.
The mammoth tooth looks great.

Doug :)

That is incredible! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Chute knives!! Did I mention that I LOVE Chute knives???!!!

Wow, that project sure came together quickly. And very well indeed. Congrats!

Roger

Yeah, it actually came together pretty quick. It cleared customs, so I should be seeing it in the next couple of days.

Very nice. Good luck with it.
Is it going to be a user?

Well, the knife arrived a few hours ago and I have been checking it out ever since. It is really beatifully made. The mammoth tooth is really cool stuff that has all kinds of colours in it. The knife fits my hand like bruce had done a custom fitting. Actually, to me this knife is just about the perfect size overall. It has a beautifully balanced look and feel.

This knife was a real workout for Bruce. He has used S-30v in the past, but only on knives made by the stock removal method. He said that after forging it seemed much harder to polish. It took him weeks to get it right, but get it right he did. There is also a lot of work getting the mammoth tooth finished properly. The stuff likes to chip.

Some people have posted that they have had knives come from makers with dull blades. I have never had this happen, but few have come as sharp as this one.

Bruce did a wonderful job for me on this knife and I highly recommend him. I'm not sure how many knives he will be making in the future, as he let me know that he is going to concentrate mostly on his pistol knives, but if you are looking for a top quality knife you should check him out.

Thanks keith for all the kind words. Im very happy that you are pleased with the chute knife. It was interesting to say the least. I really do think that forging S30V makes it even more wear resistant than stock removal. It wore out about 10 belts in all but the end result should be worth all the trouble. I do enjoy the challenge of it all. Thanks for the opportunity.

That is a horrible picture of, what I am certain, a magnificent knife.

Bruce, you need to be shot on site for allowing that image out of your possesion. :p ;) On the back or Ron Lake's business card is the age old slogan "You never get a second chance to make a first impression."

Keith, the ball's in your court. Show us your stuff. :D

All chiding aside, I'll bet this is *very* gratifying. Congrats on this project. What about a sheath?

Coop

Pictures have always been challenging to me. Ive made knives for almost 20 years now and only have had about 10 of them professionally shot. Im a maker, not a photographer.
