Hey all! As my last semester as an undergraduate student rolls to a close and I struggle to finish my honors thesis while trying to find time to enjoy with my friends while we are still together, I haven't really been able to scroll through the forum as I usually like to. But I had to sneak on and post, because last week I received an incredible gift from Pertinux. I posted asking for suggestions about a knife to pick up for Wooden-handled Wednesday, as I didn't own any (except my opis) that fit the bill. A few days later I received an incredible package from Pertinux containing the following (please excuse the cheesy college guys' apartment carpet):

These knives are way nicer than any I could have afforded myself and once again I have been blown away by the generosity of the members of the traditional forum. Sometime when I have a little free time I'll take some pictures that do the knives more justice, the sawcut bone-handled one is a true beaut. I've been carrying one of them every day since receiving the package, and absolutely love the knives. Thanks again to Pertinux, as well as the rest of you for sharing in my excitement of our common hobby.

Two great knives there Cheesiest. Well done P, a very thoughtful and generous act :)

Man thats awesome Cheeseiest1, congrats on two very fine knives. Sure they will be formidable companions for a long time to come :thumbup.

Incredibly nice gesture Sarah, but I am a bit  I thought the only way you would release a Charlow is if someone pried it from your cold, dead hand or is that pocket?? :D :D

Enjoy and thanks for sharing

This forums generosity is like a virus! Seems to be catchy in an awesome way:thumbup:

Thanks for sharing cheeseiest1, those are some of the nicest production knives of our time!

Well done ~P

Amazing generosity, P!

Looks like those knives found a very appreciative home too.

That is a fantastic gesture.

I've been eying those as well. I missed out on the spear points because I was tapped out at the holidays, by Christmas for the kids, and my first custom slip joint coming due.

There is just something so right about the long bolster, stamped and slim!

The wonderful thing is that this sort of gesture is TYPICAL of this group.

Cheeseiest, that gift is a darn-right AWESOME one, Those two knives are Top Quality knives, drop a wee drop of Mineral oil in the joints of those two beauties now and then, sharpen carefully, and one day your son will be able to show us ( well - I wont be here then ) his Dads knives, and he will be carrying them with pride, or if you are lucky enough to have a wee girl - hopefully the same.

Sarah - that was incredibly kind and generous of you, I bet your hand was trembling letting go of that package!!!

When Cheeseiest1 asked about a knife for Wooden Wednesday, I asked if I could send him a cosmetically-blemished TC barlow, an excellent user.

Boxing it up, it just didn't seem right to send him a "second" as his first-ever GEC knife, so I put a little something else in the box as well.

What better hands in which to place these knives, than those of a young buck just coming up?

(I mean that as a compliment, Cheeseiest1-- I love your taste and outlook, at such a great age.)

My only oversight was forgetting to ask him not to Say.

It's okay, though. I have been the recipient of tremendous generosity here, as well as the ongoing camaraderie that does my heart good, and know that news of all these goings-on can strengthen us all.

I'm just glad that I realized I was in the right place at the right time to pass some of it along. :)

(And once realized, I knew that neither knife was "mine" any longer. No prying, no trembling, no regret involved; joy, in fact. I was as eager to hear news of Cheeseiest1's box landing as ever I've been for anything of my own.)

~ P.

Cheesiest1 I know you'll cherish those for a lifetime.

Sarah you are simply the BEST!!! Thanks for making this form such a great place to come hang out in!!!

Whatawonderfulgift!! Nice gesture, Sarah!
I hope you enjoy the knives as well as the generosity, Cheeseiest!!!
They will certainly help you ignore the Carpet!

What a astoundingly wonderful gift, Sarah!!! Congratulations Cheeseiest1, these are two of the most special knives to come out in awhile and it seems they are going to one special person, just as you begin a new journey in life. Best wishes in your endeavors!

If you can find a better group of people on this or any other planet I would be shocked. This is the greatest little community I have ever known.

That kind of generosity is what makes this place so cool. I was given a Case Seahorse Whittler several years ago, and it gets carried & used quite often. It's one of those things that just brightens an otherwise crazy day when I look at it.

Cheesiest1 - good luck with finishing college, and use those knives well. They look bored, just sitting there on that classically patterned floor covering of yours. They want to work. ;)

A great gesture, Sarah!

I´m sure, you´ll love the two knives that were gifted to you. They are really great knives, Charlows rule!! :D

This is such a special and wonderful place, fellows. Everytime I enter here in the Traditional section it makes me smile.

Congrats!!
On the knife and on the last semester coming to an end.

That was such a classy gesture on P's part.

I am continually amazed at the generosity of everyone in this subforum.
