I do love the Nighthawk!
It's grip is great I think,as it is cheap,tough,complate water-proof,and useal!
It's like custom made hundle for my hand.
I feel the grip can be great system which can hold any larger blade;as Nighthawk's blade to 8"or 10"Bowie and blade of "Buckmaster"or"M9 bayonet".
I think they are not difficult. And they can be very cheap!I think they can be new fragship series for BUCH KNIVES!

I found a slightly used Nighthawk at a knife show a couple of weeks ago. It's a really nice knife, particularly for the price. I don't know why I waited so long to get one. I think it might be because of the "tactical" thing. I really don't like that term and I somehow associated it with the Nighthawk.

This seems somewhat of a departure for Buck. Jeff, were sales of the Nighthawk high enough for Buck to consider a series? To me it seems the Nighthawk might have been one of those "testing the waters" trial balloon types of knives for Buck.

Bob, I'm with you on the "tactical" designation. That's why I've been pushing the term "Practical" for these types of tools. It seems to fit better, at least for me. As far as the Nighthawk series is concerned, Right now there are four variations of this knife: There is the basic black blade, 6" long with a plain edge; the same thing except with a bead blasted finish; Then there is a fully serrated model, black, with a 5.5" blade; and, the piece-de-restance, a partially serrated, black, tanto blade, about 6" long. This last one is a really great edition of this knife, and a real departure from what you are used to seeing from Buck. (The only thing it needs is a lanyard hole

.)

I agree with Chicahiro. The Nighthawk is one fine knife, especially since they have changed to the new Edge 2000 system. These are really SHARP knives! And strong. It will stand up to the Cold Steel recon tanto any day. The blade isn't quite as long as the CS, but it is much more stout and functional. I also really like the idea of a larger version (way to go Chic.) A 7.5" or 8" blade would be a tremendous cutter, and a 9" blade would be awsome, especially with Edge 2000. I would love to be the exclusive carrier of that model.

Jeff, can I send a new Night Hawk back to Buck Knives for sharpening to the Edge 2000 standard? How much would it cost?

All,

To get the EDGE 2000 put on your Buck will cost $5.00 and send it to
Buck Knives

The Nighthawk was our design for the Seal trials a few years back. We didn't make the cut, so we went commercial with it. The series is doing well for us, but I haven't heard any rumors about expanding the line beyond what it is...

I assume that is $5.00 per knife, right? Also, can I send in other Buck knives for Edge 2000? Do you guy take personal check?

Jeff,
I have great wish for result of the Marketing. Thanks!
I think there is no technical probrem.Only weight balance can be,but it is not difficult to gain weight of tongue in handle.

Bob,
I think "were sales of the Nighthawk high enough for Buck to consider a series?"too.
In Japan,at east, most knife shops are selling Nighthawk.

Dennis,
Thank you for your agreement.I did'nt think about Edge2000 project for the Nighthawk.
I feel it fine,too!

Guys,I have to tell you I love your knives.I own six at present, but would like more! The handle on my Nighthawk is the best I've ever used,on any knife.Any plans to use it on your skinner?I have the smooth black handled version, and it gets a little slippy when covered in blood. My friend has a rubber handled one and it's great, but the Nighthawk is better. It is now my usual hunting knife, although on one badly rushed hunt I ended up using a mini folder for the gralloch on a Sika deer.It was the one with a deer on the handle panel,by the way! Also,do you do the Tanto without serrations,as I can always get a shaving edge on my Bucks. One sweep will take every hair off my forearm, dry! That is plenty edge for anything, thanks for your time, and I hope to own a Nighthawk Tanto soon.

Touche? Too slow!

I'd like to see one with a white Micarta handle, mirror polished blade on the smaller version. Sweet dreams till a buck custom shop.

To add my 2 cents worth, I have been lobbying
for Buck to do all the 100 series models in
BG-42 with white linen micarta handles. No
fancy guards, no shields just the standard
model as described above. Then, a burgandy
or brown leather sheath to set it off. Is
this a winner? I guess I could mortgage my
house and have the new custom shoppe do one
of each for me. Wonder how the little lady
would respond?
