More Pawn finds

Everytime I see a thread about pawnshop finds and Buck knives I always wonder is said knives were stolen and sold to the pawnshop. Not saying those knives were, but seeing complete sets ,really who dedicates themselves to collecting sets and pawns them instead of selling them to other collectors?

Years ago my entire collection was stolen from my house, many irreplaceable knives from Peter custom knife shop that could never be replaced.Went to,a pawnshop one day for a look around and there was this beautifull custom buck 11 with damascus blade and sambar stag handles..Soon as I saw it I knew it was my stolen 110,I asked to see it and the price was$250,when he passed me the knife I put it in my pocket and he said what are you doing?

I said I'm putting my knife in my pocket .I still had the box/ paperwork and actual pics of the knife at home,he wasn't long apologizing and I pressed him hard on who pawned it but he said he didn't remember.I still go in there and he still quinces when I come to the counter...

I really like the 110 sheath with the gold heat stamp..Finding one of your stolen Bucks .. priceless! I'm missing at least a dozen of my best 112's that I think were taken by one of my granddaughters boyfriend after a Christmas party. I know exactly how you feel.

Seems your insinuating they are stolen because their was a handful of knives in their boxes and they dedicated themselves to collecting. Let me tell you another version of a pawn shop knife.

Try buying a very special knife from a pawn shop just to have the original owner accuse it of it being stolen. So uou surrender the knife just to keep things on the up and up. Then weeks later find out the knife wasnt stolen at all but you cant have it back. This after debate ended up working out.

When you live next to the Buck factory and knives end up in surrounding area pawn shops it kinda makes sense why. Employees can pawn knives, people who buy from the factory store can pawn knives and I'm sure their are stolen knives pawned as well. Their is probably about 10 pawn shops in the area. Pretty easy in a couple hours to check them all. If you had some knives stolen you better make your rounds now and again. The local pawn shops here work close with our police department to watch for stolen product.
In manufacturing of product doesn't mean 300 employees are buck collectors. They have kids, bills etc to pay every month. Selling down other avenues usually pays better but can take time which there may not be time to wait for a knife to sell. I don't collect the knives I showed pictures of and was going to list them for sale here. They are beautiful, instead I will list them elsewhere. I don't want to be associated with the listing and accusations. I just wanted to show some cool knives.

Yup...Very good finds there Mike!
I haven't been to a pawn shop in years,maybe I'm missing outo_O

most items at our pawnshops--Washington Idaho---go through a 30 day waiting period and the POLICE are on top of the area pawn shops--probably far and few in between for a stolen knife for sale in the pawnshop in this area---and I guarantee if you slide a knife in yer pocket at 1 of our pawnshops you will be arrested for shoplifting immediately....

I've bought some real nice Buck (and other brand) knives in pawnshops. Some were pawned by their owners, some were sold by their owners, some sold or pawned by the kid whose granddad gave them the gun, knife, or tool. I am sure some may have been stolen - I don't know and don't know which is which. I know the owners of several gun and pawns, and have know those gents for years - all are honest men as best I have ever seen - wouldn't buy what they thought was stolen, help the police catch thieves when they can, but who can ever know for sure. If you own anything made of steel, aluminum, or copper there is an off chance the junk steel sold to the recycler was stolen. Feel bad that a part of your car, A/C system, or house wiring was stolen? Don't know how you could know. I keep going to pawnshops that I know and I keep buying knives that I find. OH

In my city you are always presumed to be pawning stolen goods. Which means filling out forms of my address, description and having my picture taken and held on file for a month.

In my family things get pawned because money is needed. My uncle was a gambler and the silverware he got with his winnings went in and out of the pawn shop more than once. With a more financially stable life, it hasn't seen a pawn shop in years. Pawn shops are legitimate business used by those of us not on the top of the socioeconomic ladder. TV is not real-life :)

see where I said " not saying your knives were stolen".i never said any of your knives found in pawn shops were stolen,I said my knife was pawned at a pawnshop, not yours. My Pete s custom shop knife was easily identifiable ,I could have picked my knife out of a hundred other stag/ damascus 110s..I'm just lucky I found it.

really who dedicates themselves to collecting sets and pawns them instead of selling them to other collectors?

Someone who drops dead and their only relative is a 23yo neice who lives in a city 1000 miles from the estate she has to liquidate in less than a week. She'd take those knives and guns to a pawn shop to sell, not really pawn.

I buy a lot of knives and guns that came thru the county to the gunshop because there was no will or relatives. They sell them to cover costs...
