More smoke and prayers for the Brother-in-law-

Things have continued to go up-and-down since the last update.

Bottom line, Dave seems to be doing well now, the suspected heparin allergy/sensitivity was disproven so, although that is good news in the event of any future surgeries, it still leaves the cause of the attack undetermined.

Kathy and I spent several hours with Dave yesterday morning. He is looking better, his color is coming back and he continues to be in excellent spirits. He does still look very tired, and is still in a fair amount of pain.

He continually reminds us, and I think himself, that this whole affair was much easier on all fronts than his cancer surgery a few years ago.

Debbie ahs been able to get a little rest lately, and Dave's cardiologist said that if all went well he might be coming home tonight.

The logistics of Dave's home recuperation are a little unsettled right now. We're trying to figure out how to protect him from the enthusiastic affection of his two Jack Russells.:D:eek:

Thank you all again for your kindness and good wishes. :)

Good that he's doing better and going home tonight. Good luck with the Jack Russells. We as a species are fortunate that they're so small, else they'd have taken over the world. More smoke from SC.

Well at least some good news about Dave!  :D

I don't know why I haven't seen the updates on Dave the last couple of times because I've been here almost every day lately, but then I wasn't aware the upgrade to the forums had taken place either until I read about it in S & S.  :foot:

What a struggle, What a fighter your Brother-in-Law is!

Thoughts & Prayers from Downunder.

As a 'dogman' myself I know he will pick up so much more when he gets home to the JR's.:D

We as a species are fortunate that they're so small, else they'd have taken over the world.

This shows the canines real intelligence and genius in making so many of us think we, mere humans, are in control whereas in fact they subtly control our actions! ;) :D

I'm really sorry for getting into this so late... but I'll add my prayers anyway. I hope all went well with getting him home.

Alan

Dave was able to make it home for Thanksgiving. We all had much for which to give thanks.

He is home now, and making frequent trips to his doctors for blood tests and such.

He will be allowed to drive in a few weeks and will begin his cardiac rehab shortly after that. He hopes to return to work even sooner.

Kathy drove him for one of his test appointments, and he wanted to stop by the radio station where he works on the way back. I think the visit did him some good.

Everything seems to be going as well or even better than expected, but for one setback-

One of the dogs apparently ate a shoe shortly after Dave's homecoming. This same dog has eaten many inappropriate things in the past, and has required surgery to have some of them removed.

This time, a buckle from the shoe had to be removed surgically, and it was determined that the dog's intestinal tract is so ravaged by past abuse, that any future such incident would the last.

Dave and Deb are understandably distraught over this, and if you have any more to give, they sure could use some smoke, prayers and good wishes for their beloved pet.

Thank you all again and still. :)
