More Winter Camping with Rick...

After watching your vid, I bet you kept trying to persuade Rick into your sleeping bag with you, didn't you, Ken.

There's a little private story between the two, but we shouldn't ask and they shouldn't tell:D

Excellent video Ken; Rick, excellent tutorial and very well done. Very impressed with your "lounge". My son loved the video of you chopping down dead tree:thumbup:

My camera was good for a half dozen shots before the battery died. I look forward to your video

Did it die or the battery slow down from the cold?

I always had to keep my camera and flashlight warm next to me in my parka.

No, I actually have a camera that is made for the cold (Olympus Stylus) I just forgot to charge the battery.... doh!:o

Shooting a lot in cold weather I find keeping my batteries warm (next to my body) and letting the camera equalize with the outdoor temp (in my bag outside my clothing) is the best way to travel.

Keeping the camera inside my clothing leads to lens fogging (and can even result in condensation freezing moving parts of the camera).

Like Rick mentioned, some cameras work better in extreme cold then others, I've had good luck with Olympus digital cameras.

I also like to carry a spare set of batteries along with my usual rechargeable ones, in cold weather those spares are lithium batteries.
