Morel hunting

Oh yea, in our rainy years out here we would have to load them up in 50 gallon garbage bags there were so many. Drought and fires have made them much harder to find an abundance of the last couple years though. Dehydrating is the way to go too. Great for soups, sauces, stocks and for stuffing.

Great picture! I think all the buyers that I sold to would dehydrate them and then sell them to restaurants. I know the price really went up per pound when they were dry.

They're an issue down here in NE FL but doesn't sound like it's as bad as you guys have it. you'd think the winters would take care of them? Why are they such an issue up north?

The past two winters have been pretty mild. I think the one before that was mild as well, but we weren't here yet so I can't say for sure.

I have nothing real to contribute here, but I've enjoyed reading about the hunting stories. I just saw this on Facebook and was compelled to share. Can you even early something like this?

Thanks!

Yea that's what we would do mostly to save space in the walk in!

I saw something similar on Facebook, there was more cleavage though so I may have been distracted. I don't know how a morel that size would taste but I'd definitely like to find out.

Oh, forgot about another pic. The 'wait a minute' vines seem like they're going to be especially obnoxious this year. Seems that it's usually close to Memorial Day before they start getting this bad.

Love the thread Grog!!!

I had some vines too this fall..no that big but when I was done with my 5.1 I had over 30lbs of chopped up vines.

If those ticks have LYME you shouldn't be handling them !! I speak from experience - Lyme is not a trivial thing !!
Ticks need moisture so a trip through a washer just gives you a clean , happy tick ! But in a dryer 15min at high heat gives you a dead tick !
