OK, I must be officially knutz. This morning I decided to carry a Case Swing Guard after looking at a few threads here on BF that inspired me to do so. After 10 minutes looking for the perfect sheath, I found a nice tooled leather Case belt sheath that looked great. Once I put everything together I thought the Swing Guard might be a little light duty for yard work, so back in the knife drawers and came up with a Buck 500 for the pocket and a Buck 450 on my belt and I'm all set for yard work. It took me about 2 seconds to get dressed and 20 minutes to pick out what to carry. Anyone else spend more time in choosing their sharp tools for the day then they do on their attire?

Yes I go through a similar ritual ( and I bet most here do too).

It's worse on weekends , because I can carry anything I want and sometimes I'll even switch mid-day... For me it's a tough choice deciding what I' d like to carry versus what is the most practical for the tasks at hand.

I'm sure it's some form of OCD .... :)

No problem...

1. Get a random number generator, there are many available free online.
2. Set the number values depending on how many knives you own, 1-52 for example.
3. Number your knives.
4. Every morning hit the start button and use the resulting number to pick your knife for the day.
5. If you carry more than one knife just set the generator to create a set of numbers.

This method will help prevent the mental torment we each go through each morning as we decide which of our babies will go with us while the rest remain at home. It will also stop squabbles between your knives as they cannot claim they are your favorite as the choice is now randomized. Just explain the new system to them and let them know they are all in the line up and sooner or later each will have a chance to be carried. This generator works well for me.

Or, just don't get dressed, stay home and play with all of 'em. ;) :p

WAIT....
But I thought that was the whole fun of having a collection???

And don't forget the metal anguish, angst, and torment choosing a knife to buy.
Is it the right one etc...

Yep...it is like going to the Humane Center to pick out a new puppy. You look and try to decide, finally settling on one but as you fill out the adoption paperwork you look over your shoulder and all the rest are looking at you with those big brown puppy eyes saying "Take me too"...

After I get going, and gone, then I think about the ones I left home.
Is there a phone number somewhere to call about this ?

Nope, just a support group.

If I've left a knife home too long, it tends to let me know, and gets to have its pocket time again.

Nope. Got a drawer full of various Stockman patterns. Premiums, Serpentines, Sowbellies, Wranglers, Equal Ends, etc. I have enough that I can carry a different one every day for a couple of weeks, if I want.

I can totally understand spending more time choosing an EDC cutting tool than getting dressed. Yup, I don't see nothin' wrong with that . . .

Choices. Life is good. ;)

thx - cpr

and I thought I was the only one.
I am pretty much on auto pilot on steps 1-7 when I get up in the morning.

1. Make coffee. Day starts at 4:15 gotta have it. ;).
2. Answer nature's call.
3. Light dynamite under dogs to wake them.
4. Drink coffee. Pet dogs. Read a little.
5. Shave and shower.
6. Dress. (I buy 99% of my clothes off the tables at COSTCO and they all look the same so there is not much choice there.)
7. Water and feed critters.

8. Gawk at knife box like a 3 year old kid and pick knife(ves) for the day. Walk out the door and sometimes go back in to get another knife. :D.

Not something I want to picture at all. :D

Now, now, Gus, I didn't mean you have to play with 'em naked. Sittin' around in your underwear or gym shorts will work just fine. ;)
