Lemus fell down six stairs and landed on the knife, police said.

The woman got the children out with the spare keys.
 
I was visiting my 87 year old mother last week. When I arrived she was in her garage cutting open a sack of bird seed with a serrated Mora. She then started walking back into the house, unsheathed knife in hand. I gently reminded her that walking around with an unsheathed knife might not be the best idea, especially since she is a bit unstable. Yikes.

Obviously large knives should be banned, and the tips of all knives rounded to prevent stabbing.

Now that sounds like a great idea (sarcasm drips from my lips) . Let the Brits have it..it will never happen here Bro.:D No worries..not even your opposing team is that stupid.
Seriously..this is a terrible thing that happened to a father that was worried for his kids. not ANYONE is perfect..and one mistake can cost you your life.
Thems the breaks.
 
I believe that when it's your time to go, you go, and when it isn't you won't go. I guess it was just his time to go. We all have to go sometime...I think it's worse to be the one who's left behind.
 
Fell down 6 steps. Open a car door with a butcher knife. He wasn't thinking at all. And His wife had keys. It's hard to imagine this happening.
 
Sad. Very sad. I hope the family will at least remember him as a caring father. Maybe not a smart man, but he was trying to care for his children. You can't say that about everyone with children.
 
Knife safety is def important...as is trying to keep in what seems like a rough situation.. But when you break it down having your kid locked in the car isn't the worst thing...at least you know where they are...I've seen so many people get hurt or killed just by not thinking things through..a second of sitting can save alot of running, and possibly your life.
