Hey folks- :)

Latest one from the shop--- customer/friend has been beyond patient with me on this one. Hopefully the wait was worth it. :)

Blade- Explosion-ish 1084/15N20 6-3/16" long
Fittings- 416 stainless (line cut and fluted "ferrule" spacer, domed 1/16" ss pin)
Handle - African Blackwood
Sheath- Veg tanned leather, saddle stitched, twist damascus stud (it has an aluminum "rib" in between the two outside layers of 5oz leather to make it very rigid, as well as give it some contour) :)

Even though I've looked at Coop's $75 Home Studio thread 100 times, and have HIS old camera, I'm still missing something.... So I'll just inundate you with photos :foot: :o :)

Thanks for looking!!! :)

I'm overjoyed to share this photo. I've been working very long days in the shop, and Angi is ALWAYS trying to find ways to support me. She WANTED to help the other day... and after watching me stitch up another sheath and start this one, she asked if she could help. So after I got it ready and all the holes lined out and ready, she did 90% of the saddle stitching on this sheath. I am both proud, and lucky!!!   :D

I'm sure as hell no Paul Long... but it's clean and I think it works well with the knife shape. :)

Here's a little video of it too. :) Hopefully the audio swap will be done by the time this is posted. :)

Wow Nick!
That is a great looking Dagger.
I think the damascus could be classified as hallucinagenic grade.
Sheath turned out really nice too.

I say, "Forget the Bowies. Make more Daggers!"

Wow Nick. That's a beauty and so very very clean. Your work is as close to "perfect" as it gets.

This is just gorgeous. Is the ferrule/spacer satin or is it the lighting? If so how did you "satinize" so nicely?

Nice sheath and love the video. It's smaller than I thought.

that knife screams, "love me, SG!"
and I'm sure he will...assuming my 1+1=2

Stunning Damascus, amazing grind, sexy shape and flawless fit and finish. Sounds like a standard Wheeler knife to me. She's a real beauty Nick. I'm sure the new owner will be stoked.

Very nice dagger. Lovely damascus, and the combination with the african blackwood works.

Kind regards,

Jos

Sure the wait was worth it, Nick. It's an amazing knife....and a testament to how much has changed in this period of time.

When the knife was originally ordered, it was to be carbon steel with a hamon.

Well, Nick discovered how difficult it was to make a dagger with hamon, and I discovered how difficult it is to maintain such highly finished carbon steel and leave the hamon with good contrast.....as we discussed, Nihonto-style blades almost never touch a surface, the habaki isolates the steel, and the air inside a saya is mostly conducive to rust prevention....not so with cases or sheaths.

This one fits the request to a "T", and thank you again, Nick for working with me on this....it's absolutely beautiful to behold.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

No don't forget the Bowies!!! :)

Beautiful Dagger and sheath.... superb details!

Very nice. The pattern in the damascus is intriguing- it just pulls you into it.

Beautiful work and the sheath looks great too.
