Handle is a Mosaic pattern of Sycamore and Padauk wood. The handle is cut out of a block with 70 pieces of wood forming the pattern. The wood is glued together with Titebond II water proof glue. The glue joint is stronger than the wood. The handle is stabilized with Resinol 90C.
This handle is as durable as any other piece of wood. One of my Mosaic handled knives appeared in the 31st edition of "Knives 2011" on pg. 93.
As far as I know, I am the only knifemaker to be making this type of handle.
Blade is ATS-34 heat treated by Paul Bos to a RC 59-60.
The knife has a tapered tang and the blade has a distal taper.
The decorative pins are stainless steel.
The knife comes with a tooled leather sheath.
Knife is no longer for sale.
First "I'll take it" here gets it. Also e-mail me at lewisknives@carlsbadnm.com
I accept Pay-pal, or US Postal money order for immediate delivery. Personal check with time to clear.
Thanks for looking.
