Mosaic pin inlay

Has anyone just used like a 1/4" of mosaic pin and inlayed it in the handle instead of going clear through? I've pinned the handle scales on but want to use 2 small pieces of mosaic pin on each side. I have no intention of telling anyone that they are true pins. Completely for looks.

I did that once. I had some stag scales that simply would not stay flat - they kept lifting up on the ends, despite the mosaic pins and epoxy. I bolted them down with small through bolts, then put a small section of mosaic pin above the head of each bolt. Then I kept the knife for about a month to make sure the stag would stay down before I shipped the knife out!
