Suhhhhweeet!
AND the BK5 and Snake Charmer!
Momma's gonna be ill when this hits the bank...

Looks like a winner in my book!

How do the two different green scales look, Murph?

I'm not sure if Ethan got the scales in. It came with the stock black ones on.

Come to think of it, I bet they are the bright green scales from the 39 and 32 and the green scales from the multi-pack of Becker scales.

Hey, this means that a lot of BK5's are gonna be coming up for sale when folks start getting their bundles in! The opportunity I've been waiting for. :D

The fun is in full swing sooooo....... This will be mercifully short..... The difference in the two. Designs appear minor and on paper they are...... In the hand and chopping the new blade is perceptively a better chopper and it shows conclusively that blade geometry can make a decisive difference....In my hand the Moses chops better...... You will note that I am starting to say "....in my hand " a lot..... we are all a bit different and the only experience I have is me......

I did not really want Jason Moses to out do me but, it is what it is.... Good job Jason....

I will do a longer discussion about this on Monday or Tuesday after the enjoyable circus that is a Beckerhead Gathering winds down......

Sooooooo........ I am gonna get back to it!!!!....

Ethan

Hm.. Will this cool kit be accessible through retailers or from Ka-bar only?
Askin cause Ka-bar doesn't export..

Certain folks had the same issue with the BK20 set when it came out, since it was Ka-Bar only. I believe if you contact Ka-Bar directly they may be able to hook you up with international shipping. Otherwise, might find someone with some spare cash in the States that would be willing to purchase a set for you and ship it to you as well; that happened with the BK20 as well...

Man, it never fails... If I didn't have money tied up in acquiring other knives right now, this would be really sweet. A great opportunity for folks, for sure.

Bad timing, just spent my knives money on a roll stamped Bk9, and then just like that this came out, seems that I'll sign up for overtime...

Based on Murph's photo it looks just like the proto to me. Looks quite a bit wider at the handle than the BK20. Overall mostly just taller with a bigger and curved clip. Hmmm... I will have to stew on this one. I don't really want the Snake Charmer. I could always use an extra bk5. I do want the tan sheath for my BK20. Exciting to see a new Becker.

I don't have any money ready to spend either, even if I didn't already have a 20 as my favorite knife. But, the 20 lasted a good 3-4 months in stock even with the 400-piece limit, so I wouldn't necessarily overspend now if you can wait a month.

I'd like to pick one of these up to try out. I'll compare it to my bk20 and sell the one I like the least! I looks almost just like a 20, but looks like the point is pointier, smaller guard thingy and it appears like the main grind is a little higher?

Do we know yet whether this is limited quantity like to 20?

The Kabar website states that it is a "limited edition", the Bundok was a limited edition, 400 made. Seems to be about 376 Moses bowies available to order on the website right now, so I'd guess it is a 400 piece run as well.
