Just wanted to see some of those really abused/used users that are out there.
I'm not talking about a Benchmade 710 that's got a nick on it from accidentally dropping it, but more along the lines of somethings that's been to you would use to cut a car in half if you had too.

I have my nice knives that I wouldn't dare to try and drive through a car battery or use to hack up a cinderblock, but I have an old Smith and Wesson Swat folder thats been used for alooot of stuff I wouldn't normally use a knife for. Before I got my hands on it, it was already scuffed up and used, duller then a doorknob. It literally had no edge on it. It wouldn't even cut a potato.

I worked and worked and finally got an edge on it, I tried my hand at convexing, but it'll cut like a laser now.

Dont have any knives that I abuse like that. If I need onefor jobs like that I usually grab a screwdriver or the like. Sometimes ill se an old chisel. I treat my knives with respect--no prying or cutting metal on purpose. My knives are cutters but only cut fibrous stuff like wood, plastics etc. I stay away from really hard stuff like metals, fiberglass, wires

I don't know if this one is allowed or not because it's a Benchmade 710...

It was never abused, but it certainly didn't lead a pampered life. I never needed to deanimate a car door, but I did use it to open plenty of bottles of beer when something better wasn't available (or I was too drunk to use a bottle opener).

Not entirely sure what scratched the blade, but years of hard use will do that (the spots aren't rust, they're some strange camera effect...).

Three years of daily carry gives a pocket clip some character.

Again, not abused because I have the proper tools for the jobs I need to do. But this was a well used and well loved knife, since retired in favor of a Spyderco Paramilitary. Come back in three years and I'm sure my Para will look like this.

EDIT: Let us not forget its guitar string omega spring.

That'll buff right out.

Just for the record, I never abused this knife nor do I condone that type of behavior towards any knife! Just want to see tough users.

I have my ALMIGHTY Emerson Commander which has been with me since my time here at bladeforums as well as my more recent Gerber Hinderer CLS which I grounded off the serrations and made a dual grind knife, sort of like a spyderco captain :) When I want to cut something I use my EDC, when I need to cut something I pull out one of these two:

What do you mean by guitar string omega spring ? You broke yours and changed them with guitar strings ?

Yup. One of them broke after about three years.

It's the unwound core of a low E. It looks rusty in the picture, but it's because of the lighting. Lock up is as good as it was from the factory.

Most excellent job Sir, I'll remember this method when my omega spring breaks.

I will say that medium gauge strings would probably work best... but I'm a light gauge player, so I used what was on hand.

It only took a little over an inch of string. I used some small needle nose pliers to bend the last 1/16th of an inch to fit into the hole in the liner, and then curled the rest around the Axis bar... then cut off the excess. It's stayed in place and works perfectly.

Thats why you need something with a bottle opener built in! I'm guilty of the "being too drunk part"!:D

Yeah... but see, at least with the 710, all I did was take some chunks out of the G10. You try to open a beer with that BK11 when it's not in its sheath (which I'm sure would happen in a highly intoxicated state) and you'll lose a finger or two.

There's a bottle opener on my Vic Soldier... but it's hard to use when you're wasted... the 710 is big and provides plenty of leverage for popping the cap off the bottle.

I have a few that get used a lot.

For the Folder department, my Recon 1 has been carried for about 9 years.

The Busse Game Warded gets edc'd every day.

The SS gets used hard too, but I don't typically EDC it as it is a bit long.

It started as a reverse curve edge.

After very light tip damage, I decided it was time to take the curve out, did it by hand.

then after the coating got good and worn, i stripped it off.
