most bang for my buck steel?

not much Flat, s35vn is easier to sharpen and takes a mirror edge a bit better. but there is not a very noticible difference.

thanks apintandafight and Ankerson .I have been checking out the paramilitary in m390 and the benchmade 710 in M4 now if I could only get the paramilitary in M4 with Ti scales my Quest would be over ...well until I want another knife and that wouldn't be very long.

I have a Spyderco Military in M390 and I find it holds an edge really well cutting cardboard.

Another nice option is the Spyderco Brad Southard folder coming out soon. It's going to be CTS 204P which is Carpenters version of M390.

If you want to try a fixed blade, the Spyderco Southfork is CPM S90V and is supposed to be an incredible slicer. S90V is probably the most wear resistant steel you will see in a production blade and there aren't many of them.

Good luck finding a 710 in M4 at a reasonable price...they are few and far between. The m390 para2 is supposed to be back in stock sometime soon. That said, a 710 in m390 is not hard to find, and really not that costly. If you want m4,go with the Gayle Bradley or contego if you want a large knife.

thanks Jet B . Do any of you guys know about CTS HXP ( I think I mixed up some letters but it is something like that.) Jet B, I like fixed blades but my boss freaked out when I carried one at work . A customer had commented "nice machete" The knife I was carrying had a 3" blade! So only folders at work:(

I decided on the Benchmade 710 in M390 . found one new for a good price . Thanks to all you guys for the help!

i like ELMAX its really tough and really easy to get scary sharp, it wont hold an edge as long as others but longer than S30V normally.
