Don,

Which of these pieces was outfitted to 'Sinistre'? Outstanding selection.
Coop

Coop, this is all walrus ivory and I've used a good bit since this picture was taken. I keep my old white ivory (like used on 'Sinistre') in another pile and my mammoth ivory in a couple large buckets :D

Looks like Don's Ivory Cavity Bowie handle is running away with it.
It's a beautiful piece for sure.

I think the Cavity has opened up some serious daylight. We could do a runoff of the top three, but I don't think that it would make much difference.

Buckets? I was having trouble figuring out how you spent so much on "supplies". Now I know....lol

The Montegano is kinda ivory colored;) I couldn't put all Don's ivory up there :o :D

I must tell you that the ivory handle of Montejano's knife is NOT colored. It's natural ;)

Personally I think this is the most beautiful Ivory handle, apart from that it's fine art and a lot of work. ;)

Horacio

Sorry Kevin, I misinterpreted your words. Remember that English is not my native language.:D

Regards,
Horacio

No problem Horacio. We are in complete agreement as to the beauty and quality of this knife. It's an excellent piece of ivory that has been expertly carved, fitted and assembled. In addition, in my opinion he's one of the most talented engravers in the world today.

If I am not mistaken, what Senor Montejano does is rather more like acid etching than engraving. Aqua Forte is an etching process. I find it beautiful, buts its not really engraving (or is it?)

You are exactly right Anthony. He does not engrave in the sense of the word as we commonly use it, however I lacked the correct term for the process (Aqua Forte, thank you).

I should have said, he is one of the best in the world at removing metal from knife material in relief to reveal beautiful images, designs and patterns. To call him an engraver was just easier. ;) :D
