Most counterfeited knives

The ones I see most often, Spyderco H1 dragonflys, ESEE Izula and candiru. Used to see more Falkniven f1s. The only two Vic that I know of being knocked off are the champ and the rescue (which is kinda even worse than a straight knockoff, fake rescue gear is pretty despicable) I know that there is plenty of other knock-off stuff out there, but not often where I see it. Saw lots of fake sebbies in stores in Germany, real hunting and hiking stores, not junk-shops.

Cold Steel , even the XL Voyagers . And they are indistinguishable to my eye in their ads . Easy to avoid the ones listed from China but how about the USA resellers ? Better stick with proven sellers .

Honestly, it would just be easier to say any popular knife, especially in the tactical realm will wind up knocked off at some point. Especially if it was a pattern produced in the last 10 years or so. Sad, but true. Spyderco, Strider, Benchmade, Reeve, Cold Steel probably have the largest number of scary good fakes out.

True counterfeits really bother me. These are the ones where the company name is marked on the blade like the original. I don't claim to be able to spot them as I'm simply not exposed to the real version necessarily. There are lots of knives being made that look like their more expensive counterpart. These aren't counterfeits to me, but steeling a design. But so many knives have been produced over the years that to me the designs are simply designs and not generic to a specific company. The Buck 110 might be a comparison as so many have copied it over the years.

Added: I'm a Colt collector and as such interested in mating boxes to guns. You run into lots of counterfeits in the box area and many are very good. I bought empty boxes in the past. Some are quite expensive. It has gotten to the point that I will not buy a box any more.

With knives, I pretty much stick to new knives and buy from regular knife dealers.

I bought a fluted ti military on ebay last week, when I got it I didn't like how there was 2 tiny pieces of material where the handle meets the side,at the end of the starburst lines, almost like two tiny lumps of ti that weren't machined away, uneven jimping, and the starburst pattern didn't look perfect in one of the lines. I'm not sure if they are starting to cloning the fluted militarys I know they are cloning the regular tis and g10 ones I sent it back for a refund. also I found it odd that the two rear body screws were slightly countersunk, but the two front sets weren't countersunk at all. and the lanyard tube stuck out slightly more than the scale at some parts. I couldn't confirm if it was a fake or a bad one that got through but I sent it back immediately to the seller I didn't want to lose on it.Beware of the fluted ones, too.

new tech machinery has made counterfeits pretty hard to distinguish at a glance.
back in the day, one could easily tell from the ft and finish.
not that easy now, with convincingly professional laser etched markings
too mislead the unsuspecting buyer.
but its gotten so close for some, that the only remaining difference
would be in the type of the materials used to construct these forgeries.
yes, its a problem the moment forgeries get passed off and sold as originals.
popular new designs will always to targeted by this indiscriminating industry,
which would copy anything worth their while even if an original would cost a dime.
