Most demanding Knife use.

Probably the worst I've put a knife through is cutting asphalt roof shingles (carbon steel knife I made that I use as a shop knife) and cutting open bags of paver base using an old Schrade that I've had for years.

Saltwater commercial and tourist fishing guides would have to have some of the hardest knife use known to man. The salt, the bones, the massive hauls of fish. Those guys knives don't look like the pretty ones I have and see posted on these forums. Those are hard used knives.

Recently? Probably using an opinel 8 as a steak knife on a ceramic plate a few times in a row before sharpening. I use that thing as a kitchen knife a lot too. It sees the worst out of all of my pocket knives! Best 10 bucks I've ever spent I'll tell ya what.

I recently used my BM 551 grip as a skateboard....
I was hurrying out of the walk-in at the restaurant in which I work, had some food stuffs in one hand, the grip in the other, dropped the knife (it was closed) and then stepped on it. Proceeded to skid about five feet on the quarry tile with the folder planted squarely under my shoes for crews. All it did was scratch the slip some, no other damage, and I weigh 185. For anyone who thinks the glass-filled "plastic-y" handle slabs on the grips are cheap I can tell you they sure are strong.

I used my Spydeco mini manix to cut carpet. I used my SOG Seal 2000 knife to cut fiberglass insulation bats. I know that both of these jobs are better done by a lino-knife but wanted to see how my knives would fare.

Using my CS SRK or Bushman to baton wood it probably the worst I do with a knife.

I tried to baton through a knotty stump with a laminated Mora classic and ended up with an S-shaped knife.

Cut a lot of particle board for shelves with the saw on my Vic Huntsman. Also split a 2x4 to make supports for the shelves with no damage to the knife.

Batoned through a 6" olive tree with a #12 Opinel. Kept the blade unlocked so the lock wouldn't fail. No damage at all

The hardest use I've given any of my knives LATELY was last week. I had to cut several very thick, tough zip ties. I was in Korea, and the only knife I had on me was a small Case stockman (tiny!) It took some doing, but I got through them, and the knife is no worse for the wear. I thought I was going to bust the tiny thing in half with all the force I had to use.

The worst abuse I've ever given one of my knives was chopping concrete with a Busse BATACLE. It chopped the concrete just fine, but I missed on one swing and ground the side of the blade against the sharp concrete edge. Ouch!

Hmm...recently...

I cut a shoe in half with a RAT Cutlery RC-3. It was there, I was bored. Not sure where it came from.

Also used it to cut several feet of 1 inch thick belt rubber, with multple canvas plys. Basically really heavy duty conveyor belting. Had to pound it through with a 2x6 to start the cut, and then wiggle it through.

Still could shave afterwards (but it had dulled a little bit...)

I generally don't use a knife for something that requires a prybar or hammer. About the most challenging thing I've done recently with a folder is vivisect a twin mattress with a Spydie D'Allara.
Oh Hell Yeah bro:thumbup: One of the Finest Spyderco's:cool: What blade variation/type did you use? I favor the Rescue:)
