I guess it is just an oversized notch that is usually there to allow you to sharpen the edge fully whitouth scratching the ricasso...

I love dramatic looking folders and have a Chinook3 ,a Byrd Hawkbill and a fully serrated SS Police but the best bad boy Spyderco is the Carbon fibre Masood Ayoob fully serrated model. It is like a Civilian with the bend upwards instead of down and the black CF and shiny blade looks tits.

My Stainless fully serrated Police is another mean looking folder especially because it looks so small and innocent in your pocket then his huge serrated blade comes out of no where. My buddy calls it the "chainsaw". Normally I don't like serrations but in a big fully serrated Spyderco especially with a nice curve they look fantastic. They also are awesome for clamshell packages.

It isn't a folder but the SOG team leader with the sawblade on the top that actually works is another mean one.

I also have a very flashy Lambert Whar custom with timascus bolsters and CF scales.
This is a terrible photo but it does have the Whar and the Chinook3 as well as a HairyCarry.

It's similar to a notch on a Nepalese kukri. Acts as a blood groove.

I always thought a really long Italian picklock switchblade with a Kriss style serpentine blade looked pretty wicked. I don't have a picture of mine handy so I'll just reference a picture on the net. I took mine and hollow ground it so that it is razor sharp. The blade is 6 inches and the handle is 7 on this sucker (13 inches as shown).

Spyderco Civilian - I always loved the look of it, but I'd call it more "wicked" than "evil"; looks like it would jump up and bite you if you got close enough.
