Most meaningful knife you own?

I have two. My father died (killed really, but I can't prove it) in the hospital in January. I inherited many of his things. His memorial was in June, and I had scales made in his honor for my Demko ad20.5. One side has his initials, year of birth and death. The other side says "Fishing Heaven's Waters." I also wear his Seiko recraft automatic that I repaired right before he died, as well as a titanium bracelet with his ashes in it.

I'm currently doing a tour of Wisconsin (since Friday, through Wednesday, currently in Chippewa Falls) with my cousin, and it's bringing back a lot of memories of my dad. For example as a boy we once had our boat break down on Lake Geneva and were rescued by a police boat. The captain was a well endowed woman wearing no bra. My dad kept staring when he thought she wasn't looking. I teased him about it ever since. That old MFG broke down so many times, often only the reverse gear working. Driving a boat backwards for 4 miles is quite a challenge.

In 2016 I was in the hospital with encephalopathy from liver failure, and during one of my non-lucid days, my mother looked at my phone and saw I had been on BF looking at a custom on the exchange. She thought it was cool, and wasn't sure how long I was going to live, so she bought it for me for my lucid moments. Fortunately, with medicine, I was stabilized and was able to go home before the knife arrived. It's a Matt Bailey Model 2 geek edition. I'll find a pic. I rarely carry it, as it is irreplaceable. As many here know, I ended up having a liver transplant (as well as cancer and two strokes) in 2018.

The most meaningful knife I have is often the most recent purchase or one of the more recent purchases. It's like choosing between your children! The latest shiny things I've taken a liking to is a solidly built Boker Plus Roundhouse and my Fallkniven F1. My girlfriend's father gave me a Wappen knife (Rostrei stainless steel) years ago, with their ranch logo and details on it. It's essentially a gas station knife that's commonly used as an engraved/stamped business card, so it's a nice keepsake. If I had a nicely engraved Spartan-Harsey or large Chris Reeves Sebenza 31 that would be a stand out, but they're not part of my collection yet.

I had shite taste in knives when I was in the military (AUS-8 half-serrated Spyderco Walker) and later working in a warehouse (Buck Mini Iceman and Gerber EAB Utility), where it was just about making sure I had something sharp and pointy that was handy to use, but nothing expensive. The rest of my family don't exactly have great taste in knives either, so there's not going to be the same amount of sentimentality from those sources. The knife my dad carries is either going to be a Stanley carpenter's knife or the latest cheap Victorinox (before its turn to get confiscated at an airport). He's more of a chainsaw, power tool, and fishing rod connoisseur.

Buck 110 circa 1974. I received it as a graduation gift from my uncle who was a very special person to me. He was an Air Force Academy graduate, test pilot and finally was SAC. He flew B52’s with nuclear bombs during the Cold War. When I was a kid I would fly to Omaha (Offutt Air Force Base) for a couple of weeks every summer to visit with him and my cousins. He was someone I loved and admired immensely. Ever time I get the Brasso out to polish up the old 110 I think of those times.

The knife with the most memories would be this Buck model 500. My Dad gave this to me when I was a Junior in high school. I carried it when I was an aircraft crewchief in the the U.S.A.F. It has literally been around the world with me and was with me during Desert Storm. I have retired this knife from EDC duty because I don’t want lose it.

You all have such good stories behind their blades. Please keep the pics coming! We want to see those blades!

A little Buck500 that was a gift back in the 80s from a man I admired greatly. He is long gone now (RIP Trev) but that knife has been around the world with me. Still goes on every hunting trip I take. Part of me wants to put it away but that’s not what he wanted me to have it for. Still have the belt slip sheath he made to go with it but with age that has loosened up a bit much to use.
