It sounds like a contradiction, yeah... You have to whack it hard to get it to jump out, but it'll do it. Again, I'm not sure what you could to do make it come loose in regular use, short of stabbing something, like a brick wall, and making it fold over on your fingers.
My Voyager takes some more effor to do it, but it'll go. Kinda scary, but I'll just keep away from trying to put it through a car door.
All liner locks are fairly prone to failing that test, other than the CRKTs with the secondary lock that keeps it from closing. Those are really nice (lockwise, anyway). The blade/liner contact edge is ramped, so with enough force any of them will come loose, or snap the liner. But this one sits solidly, and I've only seen it happen when throwing it at a 2x8.
I just don't like linerlocks in general, anyway.
But still my overlooked knife choice
I'd rather have to sharpen something once a week than get it replaced b/c the handle/blade broke apart with heavy abuse.
