Me as victim of my own stupidity: I was trying to cut the insulation off some wire and the Delica I was using slipped. I put a nice 1" slice in the top of my index finger, between the second and third joints. I was bleeding all over the place – what a mess! Well, a trip to the ER and six stitches is apparently the price to pay to learn a valuable lesson. On the positive side, I had just sharpened the edge razor sharp, so it was a nice clean cut. BTW, it's kind of grotesque when the doctor opens the cut in your finger nice and wide (without anesthesia, I might add) and then has you bend your finger to watch the tendon move. In retrospect, I'm glad he was thorough and checked for tendon damage, although at the time I was not very appreciative.

My son as victim of my stupidity: I was showing my son who was 7 yrs. old at the time how to handle a knife safely (you can see it coming can't you!). Anyway, I took the knife (a small Buck) and whittled a few strokes and then promptly lost my grip on the knife. Yes, his thigh was directly below where I was whittling and it went point down and stuck into his leg. Thankfully it was a lightweight knife. He handled it very well and didn't freak out, although I felt really bad and apologized repeatedly. We snuck into the house and got a band-aid and never told mom about that one! ;)

Good stories

Once upon a time our sports club got a Christmas tree for free. But it was an ugly one.
It has lost a branch and that was visible. But we got some branches separately -for reserve.
And so I took my pocket knife and tried to scratch a hole in the trunk. But I slipped off,
the knife folded together and the knife cut through the index finger just into the bone.
That was the last time I used a folder without a lock (mostly).

Best,
Haebbie
