If we're defining popularity in terms of sales numbers, I'd be surprised if it wasn't one of the Griptilian models. They're probably the most widely available of any Benchmade, and their relatively low price puts them in the range of what non-knife nuts would be willing to pay for a knife, meaning a substantially larger base of potential customers.
For me, the models I like the most probably have nothing to do with popularity. I like the 710, and AFCK the best, both in M2 steel. The 710 in particular is one of the most recommended knives in any brand and matches up well with any production knife made IMO.
Lately it seems the most sought after knives have been the Skirmish and Rukus here on the forums.
I seem to hear about the 42 more than everything else. it is a beautiful knife, very well made, and very well loved, making one of the most desired knives every made.
Must be the 42. I should have bought a boatload of them when Amazon had them on sale for $99 a few years back. The appreciation would have offset my 401k losses in the past couple of years!
