BC... For those who fought for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know... Semper Fi!

I used to love to carry my Spydie Civilian and gray Matriarch. Someone on the forums pointed out that these knives are great slashers, but are absolutely useless as stabbers. Since there are only two types of active use, slashing and stabbing, it isn't wise to use a knife that gives you one entirely at the sacrifice of the other. there needs to be a compromise between the two. I think that the BM 710, 730,720,722,and even the 770 are good compromises. For Spydie, the Starmate, Wegner, Endura, Delica and soon-to-be released Lynx fit the bill nicely. The list must include the CRKT M-16 and the REKAT Carnivore.

As for customs, gotta agree with Narruc about the Pathfinder. Also the Carson M-4, M-16, and M-18. Darrel Ralph's EDC, Apogee, Mini-Max and Krait. I love Tom Mayo's TNT and D.C. Munroes Chimera for a lot of the same reasons. They are light, very strong and have scary sharp Talonite blades.

This is by no means a complete list. The main point is that the most tactical knife is the one you are comfortable with carrying all the time. It is highly unlikely that you will be able to pick the time and situation when you have to defend yourself. The most tactical folder in the world won't do you a bit of good if it is sitting on the shelf at home. Bottom line, for me, it is the BM 710, Spydie Wegner and Starmate in production knives and the Carson M-4, the Mayo TNT or the Ralph Mini Maxx 4" in customs. All are great carry pieces with trustworthy locks.
YMMV.

production wise i would have to go with the afck and buck strider. both are fairly large (well, the buck is frigging huge!) and tough as nails.

customs....mad maxx definitely comes to mind,as well as some of kit's knives.and some of jeff diottes fixed blades,as well.
