most unnecessary cuts?

So, today I had a bottle of BBQ sauce at home that I needed to open. It had a dotted line of where to rip it, but I just wanted to use my para 2 just for the heck of it. So I took it out just to cut like a 1/4 inch sticker.

So, what are some times when you didn't need to cut something, but you did just to use your knife??

That's funny. Sunday I cut the BBQ sauce lid paper with my Blur when I could have easily twisted the cap off! Now if you use KC Masterpiece Original I think we might be in trouble.

Probably envelopes. I could just tear them open with my finger or use an envelope opener but nope, it's pocket knife duty.

My wife brings me her mail, especially packages, so I can use one of my knives to open them. Kind of a joke between us.

Candy packages, just have to drack my EDC out to open them, even if i can do it in half the time ith my fingers / teeth

Every time i am handed a receipt, i put it in my pocket and save it for when i feel like making little strips of confetti out of it.

I'll stand by my use of a knife for mail, as I have a phobia about paper cuts. And, to reinforce that, the other day I tried opening an envelop without a knife and got a paper cut!

Really, though, who needs to cut an apple into quarters. I do it, just because I can.:D

Now, if you use your knife to cut off the toilet paper, I think you may have a problem.

I open bags of charcoal and dog food with my knife. Both have those perforated pull strings, but it's just soooooo satisfying to zip a foot long slash through the paper with a really, really sharp blade:D

Them envelopes should be banned ... dangerous stuff!! :D:D:D

Yesterday I opened two cans of baked beans with my Grohmann no.3

A normal person might have used one of those new fangled 'can openers' but no sir-eee

Cut the plastic thingy that holds bottles of diet coke together. Just pulling the bottle would have been quicker than reaching for my Mnandi, etc.

I too opened a bottle of BBQ with my pocket knife a few days ago. As well as pop tarts, mail and candy for the kids daily. I'd say most of us do the same things because we want to put our pocket pals to work. The only things I can think of that haven't been mentioned:
1: 5 hr energy bottles, I cut a ring at the bottom of the cap like a BBQ bottle, so there isn't little bits of plastic crap being torn off.

2: My kids b-day, my wife forgot a cake knife so the duty was relegated to my 0550.

I always use the knife to open up the little plastic/paper seal inside the caps of new pill bottles, soap bottles, etc. Instead of peeling the seal off using the little tab, like most sane people, I like running my knife in a circular motion around the inside of the mouth of the bottle... It's the worst fetish I've got. I promise.

Haha I do the same thing.

1-2 envelopes, no big, but when I'm house sitting and theres dozens of envelopes to open each time i go over, you bet I use my knife as a letter opener. And who wants a regular, unsharpened letter opener? Make that sucker sharp!

The papers around the lid of Grizzly cans. If I used my thumbnail, the paper has such a rough cut to it.....
