most unnecessary cuts?

As I slowly eat a bag of potato chips, I'll keep slicing the bag shorter and shorter. When asked why I do this I say it's because so I won't have to stick my hand alllll the way in the bag.. But we all know it's just another way of seeing how sharp my knife is.

The pulls on my charcoal and dog food bags never go all the way across, and 1/2 the time don't even go to the product - they just shred. So I always cut those open.
Envelopes - sometimes; when I've got a bunch, or just feel like it.
Those plastic dashed-line seals don't always tear straight, and I'm tired of getting stabbed under the thumb nail by them. So out comes the Para2.
Apples taste better sliced thin and cored.
My daughters don't like when the M&Ms and Skittles go flying all over the floor - so those usually get sliced, too.
Never had a problem with pop tarts, personally, but that doesn't mean nobody has.
So far, I'm not seeing anything unnecessary.
My wife may disagree.

I was putting mulch in my yard last weekend, and used my pocket carry for the day to open the bags. The shovel would have been easier, but I wanted to use my freshly sharpend toy!

Every time i am handed a receipt, i put it in my pocket and save it for when i feel like making little strips of confetti out of it.

This one is my favorite.^^^^.lol To funny. I like this thread. I live in the city and rarely have an excuse to use my knives, I'm glad I'm not the only one that pulls out a PM2 to open the mail

That's so funny. My girlfriend thinks I'm an idiot when we get a receipt from somewhere and i cut it to shreds just for fun

I sliced my thumb pretty good today. I think that qualifies as my most unnecessary cut. :stupid:

I opened a box of cereal the other day for no reason. I didn't even end up eating anything. Just cut it opened for the fun of it.

Using a knife to cut something isn't just a utilitarian task, it's also a celebration of that knife, a validation of it's purchase, a compliment to ones sharpening skills, and the fullfillment of that knifes intended destiny.

Using a knife is a victory of human evolution and represents mans technological, mechanical, and intelectual advancement against the forces of nature.

And besides, it's a knife, if you're not gonna cut stuff with it, what else are you gonna do with it.

Bags of cat food and cat litter. The have those pull strings which I never use.

They don't work very well either. Many's the time I've suffered string burn or nearly cut off my finger trying to pull those damn cat food bag strings, only to have the packaging NOT tear. Now I always use a knife on those.

I use my knives every chance I get. I also try not to have any safe queens. There are knives that I won't put through hard use, but they all get used.

thank goodness, I'm normal. At least BF normal..... I hate those Al seals. Motor oil works best 'cause you can just smear it around and your blade is lubed! Since when is a screw top bottle not "sealed?"

Anytime a cardboard box enters our house I end up cutting it into very small pieces. I find this to be necessary.

Some say he doesn't own any safe queens...

Man, you must get that after every post.

Cut the plastic thingy that holds bottles of diet coke together. Just pulling the bottle would have been quicker than reaching for my Mnandi, etc.

Gosh, I did that a couple of weeks ago, and ended up with a squirting Coke. They don't make plastic bottles like they used to.

Anything with pull strings, They don't make those how they used to. Bags of potato chips. If it doesn't open with the first light pull I cut it open. I hate it when I rip the bag in half.

Boxes get cut to ribbons, especially when a knife comes in it.

Lets see just this week plastic soda can holder, the center out of a co-workers Pop Tart yum! cut a Doritos Cool Ranch taco in half, rubber bands, a few envelopes and my finger.

Haha, its nice to see that I'm not the only one doing this kind of stuff. I never thought about using a knife to cut the crust off a pop tart
