I hear ya. I go in fits and starts. Rotating my time through different hobbies\interests at various times. Some dovetail which is cool. I have primarily viewed knives\hawks, whatever, as practical tools and didn't see a need for say multiple size class fixed blades or whatever. But I'll be darned if there isn't a little impractical knife\hawk etc. lust monkey riding my shoulder in the back ground now and then.
Did I need another machete, I think so, yes. Did I need a 5.3 inch bladed folder ? Um...no. Hell I had a Rajah 2 before that ! And a pile of other knives beside it. In my real practical world of knife use I find a 4 inch bladed folder to be the upper limit of practical use for myself. I find myself at times in a funny little dance of trying to be practical\realistic about my blade use\buying, but I find myself failing wonderfully and grabbing another one.

I bounce forth and back between 3 or 4 not cheap hobbies. I tell my wife that knives are cheaper than firearms and watches.


I don't think she believes me.
