Well, I love my KMG. I started out with a grinder my brother had made and it was ok. Only did 48 or 60 inch belts. Had a 1 1/2 hp motor a driven 8" contact wheel with a good aluminum wheel with a tracking adjustment. Had a platen above the 8" wheel. I got a 2hp 3ph and VFD for the KMG. But I also ordered a KMG sized aluminum drive wheel for the other machine and took the old machine all apart. Took the 8" wheel off and will be installing bearings in it for use as a contact wheel in adition to my 10" I then welded up a KMG like socket for 1 1/2" tool arms and mounted it on a plate similar to a KMG's but, all via weld instead of bolts. Used the pillow blocks from the old unit and after a bit of machining on the shaft mounted the beveled aluminum drive wheel and repositioned the old units tracking wheel sililar to a KMG and here it is sporting my KMG Platen. Using the KMG's old 2hp and 4 step pulley and a 3 step on the drive shaft. Now to run some 220 and set up the VFD on the KMG.
