The kids loved their push-daggers at Christmas, but now it's time to think of mom.
I'm not sure if these will be ready in time for Mother's day...

I got the pieces of CPM 3V (0.207") profiled, holes drilled, and center line scribed ready to send for heat treat (HT). The bevels will be ground after HT. The scales are titanium (0.152", what a pain to grind and file). Some general polishing and finishing still to go.
Me and my son were playing around with heat coloring and are starting to get the hang of it.
The torx fasteners are the ones Kuraki had specially made. I have a piloted counterbore and set the heads about halfway in. I may drill them a bit deeper, but they fit perfectly and are nice and snug.

I used a 1" hole saw. It is pretty generous for my fingers. I probably could have used 7/8".
I might attempt some sort of leather braid around that part. (if I can figure out how)

My standard finger hole size on knives is 1” with a 1/8” web between holes. Never had anyone complain yet.

Got the bevel done on one of them. Not the easiest grind. Hopefully the other three will go smoother now that I'm in the groove.

Are you giving a karambit to your mom? I obviously don’t know your mom, but I know moms in general. Are you sure you won’t be able to make her something she’ll appreciate more + find some other person who’ll appreciate these beautiful weapons more?

Unfortunately they weren't ready in time, so she had to settle for flowers this time...

If I'm not mistaken, karambits were originally used as more of a gardening knife than self defense. Maybe his mom is a gardener. :)

I did make a couple push daggers around Christmas time. Actually I was joking, my mom hasn't got a new knife in about 30 years. She is set in her ways and has just about everything she thinks she needs. As a hobby maker I'm just having fun trying every style I can think of. This being about the least practical...
