Hi all,
I have this motor, 115/230VAC single phase .74kW, 8.8/4.4A, TEFC, capacitor start, wired like the picture shows.

The top leads are labeled W2, U2, V2 (from L to R) and the bottom leads are labeled U1, V1, and W1 (L to R).

The power cord is 3 wire 14awg with a quick disconnect on it. BL is wired to U1, gr/y is ground, and BR goes to W1.

Is it wired for 115v or 230v? I only have 115V in my home garage/shop today. Can I just wire a standard 3 prong plug, br hot, bl neutral, gr/y ground?

It is not that simple. There should be a wiring diagram on it, maybe inside the cover or on a nameplate beside it. It will show you the correct wiring for 110 and 220 inputs.

CDH, thanks. It never is, is it.

There are two wiring diagrams. One 3wire and one 4wire. The existing extension cord that came with it is 3wire and fits the 3wire diagram. The problem is neither diagrams follow US conventions. The 3wire is labeled "u"; the 4wire is labeled "2u". I guess one could surmise the 3wire "u" is the 115v config.

Euro color code:

Brown-230V hot
Blue-AC Neutral
Green/Yel-Earth/Chassis ground

You may have a 50 Hz motor, and that may cause problems with US 60 Hz power.
