It will work for a direct drive single speed or for a indirect drive using a pulley system to regulate belt speed. I believe you will need a 3ph motor if you are planning on using a VFD.

Seems pretty fast. I have one at 1750 which I believe most aim at. Correct me if I am wrong anyone.

Since you can change the belt speed by changing the diameter of the drive wheel or the ratios of your pulley blocks, I don't think it matters a lot.
