Hey guys and gals, Some friends and I are going to be hiking Mount Nebo down here in Central Utah September 17th and 18th. The Nebo trail that we take is one of the steaper ones in the state, but also one of the prettiest. We will be hiking the trail that starts next to the Cotton wood campground on the East side of Nebo along the Scenic loop. This trail stays on the East side of the mountain till it gets to the ridge, then it follows the ridge to the north and tallest peak. I believe it's the Andrews Ridge trail, but am not certain. I know where the trail head is and it's always been clearly marked.
We plan on meeting at the trail head after lunch, probably between 1 and 2pm. Then we head up about 2/3 of the way up, there is a small meadow close to a spring. We setup camp there and have fun that night. There will be a fire that night for smores, tinfoil dinners and so on. Saturday we will hike up to the top with Wasatch Academy, it's a Private Highschool that a friend of mine went to. Also, He and I hiked Nebo with them in the 90's. After the hike to the top and some goofing off, we will hike back to camp, packup and head back home.
There are lots of different kinds of Flora and Fawna to see up there. Near the top lots of the shall contains fossils. Am hoping that the Rasberries will be ripe this time of the year, they have in years past (2000 to 2002). It's definantly worth the effort. Let me know if you want to come and I'll keep you posted.
