I’ve been hitting some S Utah slickrock with my wife & son this week.

This line is waaaay steeper than it looks in the pic. The old man hit it once, a few years ago…one & done. The kid rolls it like it ain’t nothin’. There’s a wicked tire trap right under the kid’s front wheel which is masked by the angle. If you don’t get the ‘pop’ just right, it can be a rough landing.

Moab? I’m heading to Moab in September.

Moab? I’m heading to Moab in September.

St. George area.

Moab is an annual early-fall tradition since I moved to a cold-winter state! November for me this year.

Have fun and be safe!

So...
I went three whole weeks with no dropper.
Nope.
Upgraded the fork while I was at it seeing as I'm loving the hardtail this year!
Full suspension has been stripped for parts.
That's one beast of a vine behind the bike. I wonder if it would make for some good knife handle material. 🤔

I have a feeling (I might be completely wrong) that they are phasing out the 29+ tires.... I picked these up recently. Going to put the Vee's on, since unfortunately, I haven't been riding alot of rougher terrain lately. Mostly in town...😒

Drop down to a 2.8 or 2.6 depending on rim width.
I picked up a nice set of Raceface wheels (I forget the width) to run on my Trek Stache(s) and started with 2.8" tires then went to 2.6. Super happy with the weight loss and performance.
Scroll up a bit to check them.
Also might have some takeoffs in 3" if you need some, I won't go back.

Good points. The Vee tires are actually 2.8, so I think I'm going to rig them up for around town riding to try that size out. Your Stache looks great! Dream bike right there. I'm really digging my rigid 29 set up right now (unfortunately, we don't have any mountains and almost no hills!😄) Plus a fair amount of in town riding with the kids.

Does anyone have any good recommendations on a cheap (but decent) set of 29" wheels that will accommodate this tire size range? 2.6-3.0? Ultimately I would like to have 2 sets; one for trails and dirt, and one for streets.

Appreciate your feedback Barman1 Barman1

Sometimes we need to destroy products covered by warranty. For your entertainment, the destruction of a perfectly good $300 helmet with a hatchet I made during a $300 throwing axe smithing course. You tell me which is the better value.
