Some time ago I posted a thread with the question "how viable is the slip-joint/lock-back traditional folder in the woods" Reference post here:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=419899&highlight=mountain
After a good season of fishing, camping, and hunting (didn't get my deer this year
) the MM performed perfectly. I never had a problem with any of the down falls of a lock back, and felt very comfortable with it in my pocket. For the most part I have always carried a fixed blade, and used a axe for heavy splitting.
The 1095 steel was easy to touch up, and did everything I needed. For a test I used it to baton through some 1" pine for shelter and fire wood purposes and it performed well. I wouldn't normally do this, I just thought I would give it a go. My Grandad carried nothing but a one blade slip joint and a axe. I think he might have been on to something
Pics shiny new:

After thinning the edge, and the season of use:

Great knife IMHO.
