Mountain Man in the woods.

I've personally never had any downfalls. I was speaking of other posts, and discussions I have been involved in noting the lock to be the "weak" part of the folder. Possibly folding up on you when the lock is under extreme pressure, or breaking when using a baton on the blade for splitting is a good example. I didn't have, nor have I every had any problems with a lock back.
.....I prefer a lock back...never had a stitch of trouble with them. It's odd how you hear some folks won't trust this type of lock...and others won't trust that. Of course we who use slip joints know the only real safety mechanism......is our brain !

Awfully handsome Mt Man, longbeachguy: It should serve you well in the field.....and with style !
