Been in BridgePort, CA for MWTC for the whole month of May basically. Humped around a lot of weight up a lot of hills. Got a few rough survival classes which I knew most of it from just general internet reading and real life practice. It was nice to practice some things like snow caves and coffins, procuring water new ways that I've never had a chance to and land navigating in a new terrain. I'm REALLY wanting to go back up there as a civilian when I get out and get to enjoy it next time.

Anyway here's a few random pics

Great pics!!!

Reminds me of active-duty - though the gear sure is alot nicer - the antics are all the same. Grunts are grunts the world 'round!!!

Great Pics! Thanks.

Question...What boots are you wearing and how did they perform in that environment?

They require you to carry your M4's in Transport mode when in the field training?

Pretty cool pics. That bucket one made me laugh till I choked. Thanks for posting.

Decent amounts of snow. Always heard good things about the survival training there. Good pics mate.

Been there a few times on exercise, got my fingers crossed for this summer to but looks doubtful.

Nice pictures... I backpacked in that area in 2008, down to Dorothy Lake and back. There was a lot less snow at the end of August, though! :p

I'd love to go back up there in the winter. I know Sonora Pass is closed over the winter, which means driving the long way around. Does anyone know how far it's possible to drive up 108 from Bridgeport?

great pics man.. thanks for sharing... my dad did some training there when he was in the military... he loved it..

Boots are Bates Cold Weather USMC Issue. Well, That worked awesome at keeping my feet dry. I had used them once prior in Norway and loved them. They have a goretex liner and are great, Down...I fell sooooo mnay times wearing them, just continuously rolled my heal. Once i switched to other boots, i never fell.

Transport mode? you mean with the buttstock collapsed? Nah, you can run it anyway you want. But when your wearing a flak jacket and alot of gear have it in all the way tends to make it sit better

Nice pics, looks like fun.
What sleeping bags are you guys using?

I was using issued iso mats and black(cold weather sleeping bag) with a snugpak bivy. Some nights I used the Recon 3 bag from redwolf. All performed great, Recon 3 will let your feet get cold though
Great pics. Is your instructor Gunny Williams?

No but I remember some of the other red hats talking about some GySgt that could get a fire going in like 10 minutes or less with a bow drill
