i think they misspoke then. - that's common when folks haven't done it, and get the terms confused.

pretty easy to strart a bow drill fire within ten minutes. - if you have your kit together, of course. - our buddy Alan Halcon is one of the fatstest humans alive with a hand drill - pretty amazing to see, but boy do your hands pay....
No but I remember some of the other red hats talking about some GySgt that could get a fire going in like 10 minutes or less with a bow drill

i was going to ask which red hats you had, but it's probably best to keep their names private here.

Haven't seen those hills in almost a decade, and to be honest, I wasn't missing them lol. Looks like you had some good training there. The new issue gear looks a hell of a lot better than the 1st gen Molle crap I had to lug around up there. Is that tarp issue now? Looks pretty awesome to me.

WCJ01- I was with 10th Marines from 99-01

Looks like the gear has improved since I was in. Most of my time in we were issued 782 gear. The new sleeping bags, boots, LBV and gore-tex jackets were just starting to become service wide when I got out. It went to deploying units and the grunts and then started getting issued to the rest of the Corps.
