That's right, my second attempt at making my first blade has ended. I just got it back from heat treat and noticed a crack in the steel about an inch back from the tip. I would guess that it was a defect in the steel to begin with - I don't remember dropping this one. I now have a beautifully heat treated knife shaped object. :grumpy:

Time to start working on 'First blade, take three'. :foot:

:D

Give us some more info.
Steel type?
Forged or ground?
What grit was the blade sanded to?
What direction was the sanding done?
How thin was the edge?
Any pre-hardening work done ( straightening, etc)?
Who did the HT?
What was the quench method?
