Move over Sebenza, Lochsa is here.

Just received a Lochsa from Scott Cook yesterday. I ordered it with the S90V blade which was a bit more expensive but I consider it to be the best steel that Scott offers. What a fantastic knife!

I have had a number of Sebenzas and had a Lochsa a while back. The Lochsa is, without a doubt, the most well constructed knife I have ever seen. The one peice handle design, the custom pivot, the blade grind, everything, are just absolutely perfect. I was so impressed with the construction and function!!! The lockup is so authoritative it's unbelievable.

That being said, the shape of the handle and the positioning of the thumb ramp just didn't fit my big hands very well and I let it go. I still miss the knife because it was just so well made, but for me, other knives fit my hand better....Sebenza included. But....no other knife has ever impressed me the way the Lochsa did. If it fits your hand, then you just can't do much better then a Lochsa IMO.

Cap'n Winters, judging by your WTB post, it looks like you no longer need convincing. However, in answer to your question, the Lochsa combines the best aspects of a few of my current knives: it's got the smoothness and sharpness of my formerly favorite Obenauf Mini Model 2, and edges out the Sebenza for feeling almost like a fixed blade once open.

I just got my lochsa today, and without a doubt it is one of the most well-made knives I have ever owned... and I've owned quite a few. I prefer it over the sebenza in that it feels better in my hand... thinner profile and the choil just feels better in my hand.. the lockup is just ROCK solid, probably the best I've ever experienced. Probably my favourite knife as far as understated framelocks are concerned.

I also waited almost 2 years for my knife, as i thought i fell off the list. Scott told me that he's just about to stop taking orders soon also.

SInce some people don't like them quite as much, maybe you can find one on "wanted"

I would rather wait for the 2 years. Besides, if I don't like it, I am sure that I could sell it or trade it. Common Scott, answer my E-mail.

Did he tell you why he's going to stop taking orders?

When I ordered my Lochsa about 2 years ago, the waitlist was supposed to be 1 year... I mentioned that to Scott and he said that his wait list was looking like it was getting to be over 2 years now and that he felt that he should stop taking orders soon because of the long wait (or something along those lines). That was about 2 weeks ago on the phone I think when I called him to work out payment and this and that since he called me and I returned his call. I think he's still taking orders at the moment though...

Yeah Some people didn't like the Lochsa that much... there is one guy selling or trading one it looks like, but they command a premium usually.

A few months ago I ordered my Lochsa, with Damascus, from Scott. When my name rolls up, I may get two, one with Damascus and the other one without. I also like engraving...I'll see when the time comes.

I believe you should always order knives in pairs so that they can keep each other company.:D

I ordered a pair-one in sv90 and the other in stainless damascus. I got the sv90, but am still waiting on the damascus. I better check with Scott.

I feel a bit relieved! Whew!! Is he usually slow answering his E-mail? Does anyone know?

I was lucky enough to snag a damascus Lochsa about a year ago, and I can safely say, it's one knife I will never part with, when it comes to workmanship and lockup, the Lochsa is practically in a class by itself.

My only gripe is I wish the thumb ramp had more grip, maybe conventional parallel ridges would work a little better, but other than that, the knife is as perfect as any I have seen with probably the most vault-like lock I have seen. Of course the 1 piece Ti handle is amazing all by itself. :)
