Yermon, yes I have been to OK, but only in the Ft. Sill area! I wasn't impressed with southern Ok, but maybe Northern part offers more. Let me know.

i haven't been to Lawton, but i haven't heard good things ;)

NE OK (like Tulsa) is pretty nice, there are smaller towns near by that are pretty decent, like Owasso, Jenks and Broken Arrow

i grew up in Tulsa/Owasso, but now i'm in central OK, a bit south of Oklahoma City. Norman is where OU is, if you didn't know. i'm pretty sure there is a Radiology school at OUHSC in OKC, but i'm not as sure about the Tulsa area

OKC has been really becoming a nice place to go lately with the Bricktown area downtown, even NBA basketball for at least another year. (i guess you probably are familiar with the Hornets)

as far as sheeple are concerned, i carry a knife (ie... BM Monochrome today) and mult-itool everywhere i go, it's kinda accepted, at least in my experience. lots of hunters, etc... around

only problems are with some concerts, etc... they have extra security at places like the Ford Center

What! NO Way...I live in the Ahole of America! The Mississippi River is the drainage ditch for a third of america...What ever you Flush floats past my house! I reserve the right to be the A hole of america! We pump it all to the gulf of Mexico...aka the toilet.
Round rock is great by the way. Used to spend weekends there while stationed at Ft.Hood.

Damn...When I lived in Gulfport, Mississippi back in the early '80's, I used to swim in the Gulf 3-4 times a week!...

Asheville, NC. I moved to St. Louis from Knoxville and spent a lot of time in western NC. A beautiful area.

There are four seasons and you're already used to the humidity.

BTW - Duck... I'm getting ready to flush here in St. Louie!

Glockman, sometimes it takes awhile, but it will catch up with you. I believe it is delayed effects of the Gulf that caused you your recent accident that landed you 9 stiches. Hell, I full expect to have a 3 eyed child by the time I am 30. I might even start to grow one!

PMan was yours the one with the corn or peanuts!

The nicest place I've ever been was Oneonta, NY. The population decreases by 50% during the Summer, when the students go home. The rural towns nearby are also nice, and you can rent an entire house for less than most apartments. The most beautiful Autumns, and no traffic.

Lots of snow in the Winter, but not nearly as bad as VT or NH.

I have no idea if there are any good radiology schools in the area, but I've always enjoyed southern central PA. York and Adams counties are my stomping grounds.

You could try SW Virginia. We've got a couple of schools here (UVA and Virginia Tech). We have all 4 season's but, overall, the climate's fairly mild. Cost of living is pretty good. Downside is the job market; in general, wages are low here (fortunately for me, I work for the Federal government).

Dsvirsky, I have been to Bland and Wythville....those 2 are certainly on the map! I found the job market is definetly lacking unless..like you, federal employee. Thanks for the second vote for Va. my wife was the first.

Cincinnati is well known for their medical facilities. Especially the Children's Hospital that's down here.

P.S. don't move here unless you like living in the asshole of America.

I live in Ohio and love it. :D

I don't live too far from Cinci, either. I think Ohio has alot of opportunities, and some great colleges: OSU, University of Cincinnati, Denison, Case Western Reserve, etc.

My suspiscion is you'll be up against the old wage vs nice place to live cunundrom.

Seems every place you would actually want to live in and raise a litter has low wages and places that pay more are so overcrowded and expensive that the increased income is spent and life is one traffic jam after another.

But there is light - today, a 2 hour work commute is considered acceptable (not to me, but apparently this is so regardless).

Seattle or Spokane Washington

Unless he knows Bill and Melinda, Seattle is too damn expensive, and way too crowded. (Over 1 million population and GROWING!!!)

Spokane is now over 500,000 in population, and getting damn expensive.

I vote for Montana.

Montana! what part. Give me some cities to research. I served with a buddy from Montana. He ranted and raved about the Montana Militia, how it was much more organized than the regular army...blah blah blah.

was close. I'd move there in a minute but my wife won't. She hates cold weather. Here's a link that might help you figure out the cost of living part.

What about Indiana? I'd avoid the northern part which is more or less rustbelt.

But central and southern is not too bad. Pick a university town like lafayette, evansville, bloomington, or etc. or a suburb of an Indy suburb.
