Moving from sunny NM to Seattle...

Hate to sour a dream but there aren't many squirrels around here...but you'll enjoy camping here nonetheless. As mentioned, there is every possible climate available here and amazing scenery in each one.

Filson and Outdoor Research both exemplify the level of quality and innovation that comes out of Washington. There are many cottage and mid-sized manufacturers of all sorts here. You're going to love it.

Welcome and get ready for the wet.....it's really not as bad as some make it out to be. We got lots of green and lots of trees and that don't happen w/o the rain ! Decent rain gear is a must. As far as opportunities for outdoor activities, we got 'em, but to really enjoy it, you gotta do it on the wet days also.
The Kelty Noah tarp is a lifesaver IMO. Usable outdoor coverage is vital for a good time here.
We do it in the rain, wind, whatever...........
Get the state park discover pass for 30 bux a year, it's a good deal....

North Cascades National Park
Olympic National Park
Issaquagh Alps
Www.wta.org
Mt. Pilchuck
Anderson lakes
Sauk mountain

Again a good lightweight tarp is basic gear for me for dry outdoor space, even on day hikes. I have the Kelty Noah 9 w/ me just about always.
