Andrew,I still remember my dorm days(not that long ago).I had a real dick for a roomate 
.Hope you do better with your roomate.You and I are also not far apart as far as where we live goes and I can tell you it can be a real change for us country boys going to school at least it was for me.I went to UT and although knoxville aint a big city it still can suck when you got city folk surrounding you who dont understand us knife nuts Seriously though I dont know your major but a good piece of advice it took me forever to learn and understand was to get to know your professors.Many times my papers were better because I knew a little about the background and beliefs of the professors who were reading them.In other words its all about tellin them what they want to hear(sometimes).Also have fun and lots of it,BUT when its time to study,STUDY and do it hard,Dont screw around like I did and take statistics 3 times in order to get your degree
