Well i found out last night im moving to deleware, Me being a knife guy i ran to the computer and got the laws on where ill be going googled it up for a while (you guys would be proud i googled instead of posted on here a bunch of times). My uncle is also a cop there so i sent him a email, This is what he sent me,

"Well Chris I would Suggest you to keep it small. The laws here are pretty strict, You could find yourself getting a hard time with anything locking that has over a 3 inch blade. Assisted knives are fine but i would suggest it being a manual folder or a slip joint...
Thanks for being in contact with me, Hope to see you soon !
-Tom"

The ... are because there was a bunch of other non knife related family and just casual conversation after that lol. So before i go there im either going to be trading with some friends to get some 3 inch stuff or selling off all of the bigger blades i got except for the exception of a few i just cant part with that i will just keep in the house, that and the bigger ones for yard work.

Im looking around at small knives but i never been a fan of small knives, i havent seen any friends yet to ask them what they have in terms of smaller knives but i will maybe tomorrow. I got big hands (im 6'3) and im looking for smaller knives with big hand friendly handles, So far the extent to what i have found that looks like it would be like that are the Strider PT (witch is above what id spend and i dont know anyone who has it to trade for it and i doubt anyone would trade it for a bunch of cheaper blades) Spyderco sage (think a friend has it might see if we can trade) and boker albatros (witch i like but its sold out like everywhere).

What suggestions do you 3 inch limited folks out there have? Im looking for it to either have that second finger choil or have a larger handle to be comfortable in big hands.

Thanks for taking the time to read and help. Im leaving the end of the month.

First in with a Griptilian! Regular is just over 3", Mini-Grip is just under. Try it, you might like it.

Cold Steel Mini-Recon. The Recon comes in three sizes, now, and the Mini-Recon is right at 3".

The only one I have that would qualify is the Spyderco Native 4. Amazing blade though. Not a large grip, but does have the choil you seek. s30v steel is solid.

Don't worry, others will come along and give more options. I just can't think of any others as my preference is for 4 inch.

How about fixed blades? You have a few options there if allowed.

***Shorttime I forgot about the mini grip, definately a winner

iv never handled a mini grip, full sized grip felt nice when i borrowed it from a friend for a week but it was a bit bigger then i wanna risk. Ill see if i can find a mini grip to handle.

^Mini grip is solid, with full liners, almost stronger than the full size IMO

You can go crazy on the Benchmade website and make your own as well.

My 3 incher is Mini Recon 1 spearpoint. Carry it behind my wallet with clip removed and SAK in another pocket. Native FRN is one of my favorite Spydies but its a little over 3 inch blade....i would carry it anyways in a 3 inch place but not say someone else should.

Benchmade Sequel always looked like a good design, but never had one and it's up the price scale a bit.

Well, if you are going to be selling off your collection, get a small sebenza! If that's too expensive, consider a Bradley Alias 2. Just my .02 :)

I was thinking that, but im not sure id appreciate the workmanship of the sebenza. My friend told me he had a few dragonflys he would be willing to trade, what do you thinks think of those? He says he has a SALT a frn a Stainless a ZDP and a G10 (says he would rather not trade the zdp or g10 1s tho because they are his EDCS) Are dragonflys comfy in big hands?

the only small knife i have is the sog twitch 2 aluminum handles, and the handle feels a bit short.

I know this sounds bad but, such dumb knife laws I dont follow at all. Ive lived in Minneapolis MN for 6 years and carried an auto (BM auto stryker, AFO and mini reflex) along with my CCW pistol the whole time and never had a problem. I now live in New Mexico where you cant carry ANY knife concealed no matter how long( that means pocket or waist carry)and I still carry one of my autos or a CQC 7.
Just dont go waving it around and youll be fine.

Really?

A pocketknife is not considered by New Mexico courts to be a "deadly weapon."

and I still carry one of my autos...

Not smart, since that's the one knife that is specifically illegal here. Sure it's only a petty misdemeanor, but who needs the hassle and weapons charge on their record?

You sure? Cause Ive been living here for like, 9 weeks now lol. Ive researched it before I came and also asked around the local LEOs. The law states any concealed knife that can produce life threating cuts or stabs cannot be carried. I was told I can carry a 10 inch bowie on my hip as long as its not concealed. A pocket knife is a no go no matter the length.
But if youre right thats at least some good news. I think the cops should worry about all the illegal Mexicans and the tons of drugs and drunk drivers that are around here instead of
which knife someone is allowed to carry. I mean damn every gas station here is half liquor store and I see people buying cases of beer at 8 in the morning.
Id also like to say NM has great gun laws. No licence to carry a pistol as long as its not concealed and only needing a state licence to buy a handgun is pretty cool. I have not gotten my NM DL yet and wont until I must so I can CCW my pistol with my MN CCW licence as Im allowed to.

Delica4 is the first that comes to mind. It's got a 2.5" blade with a 4.25" handle.

Well I'm no lawyer. But there are two factors:
The accepted and common definition of "weapon" is not met by a common pocketknife.
The Latin phrase is quoted, "inclusio unius est exclusio alterius." "To include some things is the exclusion of others." So unless "pocketknife" is specifically named in the list of illegal weapons, it is not included.

The court case linked above also discusses "intent" at some length, and how that applies and does not apply to that particular case. Did the person with a pocketknife intend to use it as a weapon?

Sub three inch is tricky. My favorite 3" is the Spyderco Native 5, which is an amazingly solid and well constructed knife.

i really like the boker albatros, and its either out of stock or on back order in every single knife site i know of.

The Spyderco Sage line springs to mind. I have a Sage 2 that I love. Also, a Spyderco Caly 3 might be worth taking a look at.
