We're moving to Blacksburg, VA at the end of this month, and I was wondering if there were any other makers out there? It will probably be a while before I can get going on knives again (we're renting a house, and I still need to convince the owner that it's a good idea to have 220V in the garage, even though I'd pay to get it put in), but I'd love to meet up with anyone in the vicinity...

Thanks!
Ted

You should find a few folks to chat with if you look around.
Mark Williams and a few others are in the south-west corner of the state. Check out the local Blacksmith guild, too.
Head up north on 81 and you will find lots of makers all along the valley. I would definitely go to the Shenandoah custom knife show in April. All the valley boys are there.

I'm just starting out and I am a bit of a drive away, but I'm in Harrisonburg, Va. Welcome to Virginia!

Thanks guys!. Stacy, I know you're in VA (albeit the other side of the state). I'll definitely check out the Shenandoah show in April.

If you get a chance to go up to Goshen (near Staunton) and visit with Edmund Davidson, do it. Besides enjoying the lovely hour or two drive up the Shenandoah Valley, You will met a very unique maker who pretty much created a knife style (modern integral dagger). He is a gracious and really interesting fellow to meet. You might get to see a few five to six figure knives in progress, too. He also probably personally knows every maker within 200 miles. He is always at the check-in table at the Harrisonburg show.

Thanks Stacy! I'll look him up. I've seen a few of his creations on the interwebs - outstanding and unique! Is he a member on here?
