Moving to the country, gonna buy a lot of firearms.

Since you are moving to the country, you might want to eat a lot of peaches. :D Congrats on your new job, Ryan!

Thank you Pokey! I had that song in my head all day after starting this thread.

Thanks again for all the incredibly useful info everyone!

I have some good AR15 optic options that I could recommend if you are
Interested. Just pm if you want my $.02 it is a rather lengthy type and right now I don't have the time to tell you
All the info. From CQB optics. Red dots and others to scopes and all sorts of stuff I did
AR optics research for about a year before I bought so I have lots to say if you want to talk.

Anyways, my new job has ample parking and I am currently buying my dream car (I gave my old subaru to my mother.)

Congrats on the new job and your move to greener pastures! Sounds like you're in for some good times ahead

I don't have too much useful feedback to give you regarding your gun questions, but being a sick-with-passion-for-all-things-automotive car guy, I had to at least ask--- what dream car are you buying?!

I like the colt or bushmaster AR's.

However many are better informed then I on those topics. I support cricketdave's suggestion and have to say you need a good Lever rifle and revolver combo (.357 is my preference). There are many options from Marlin, Henry and Browning. Revolvers look into Ruger and Smith and Wesson. Taurus gets mixed reviews and has options for both.

Congrats Ryan!!!!

I have a bushmaster AR15 with a EOTECH red dot scope. I really like it, but if I had to do it over again I would build my own and save some money...

I have a Taurus 1911 and it has served me well for over 2000 rounds so far, I dont shoot as much as I should. My dad has a kimber thats nice, but I am partial to my Taurus considering I got it for $475.

My buddy has a springfield AL frame 1911 and he likes it, its his carry gun. M67 likes his Kimber.... you cant go wrong with any 1911 really.

Congrats again!!!!

Congrats on the move!!!!! The country- I envy you!! Well, as far as ARs, I really love this HnK but your money will be better spent on an LWRC if you want a gas piston. I love gas impingement as well- has advantages.

I wouldn't worry about whether you will like a 1911 or not, when you consider a Wilson CQB. After you get the CQB, your DNA will automatically change

Hi Flux -

Congrats!

No recommendations, but here is my Kimber Ultra RCP II 3" 1911

and my custom RRA/WOA AR15 with Eotech xps holographic sight. As others have mentioned, the rifle has more range than the Eotech would support, but I like the sighting at the distance I like to practice at, and this piece is just for my own fun and amusement.

I would look at Trijicon sights - they are better with batteries and are much cheaper.

best

nice set up there, how do you like the new Eotech. I just sold my 553 and I am considering the new XPS-I think that's what you call it.
its nice but im thinking about going to a leopold mk8 1.1-8 for more precision

If and when you do, If you sell your XPS, let me know, I might buy it- is it the night vision compatible model?

I don't know if you like shotguns or ak47 but a tricked out saiga with a 20rd drum magazine is my favorite gun to shoot. Pretty cheap too

Since you are moving to the country, you might want to eat a lot of peaches. :D Congrats on your new job, Ryan!

Peaches come from a can. They are put there by a man, in a factory Downtown! If I had my little way, I'd eat peaches ever day!

As far as 1911s go I have the base level kimber, Custom II, and I love it. It is only $800 is CA so its probably cheaper around you and feels as good or better than a lot of $1000 1911s I have handled and I just hit 2500 rounds WITHOUT A SINGLE JAM. That being said if you know you like 1911s I have handled both wilson and ed brown and they are amazing guns. Dan Wessons have impressed me too.

A fun, reliable, and accurate 22lr is the Smith&Wesson M&P 15-22. I love my MOE edition and it functions like a full size AR and let you practise at a cheaper price. Almost all my AR accessories work with it and I highly recommend it. I have magpul
Gear on mine with a leupold 1.5-4 power mark AR scope on it for hunting and tactical practice.

Best 1911 under $1K.........Norinco. They used Colt's old machines, but used better metal and a match grade barrel. Thank me later. ;)

You can easily find one for $500-600, and they will out shoot a standard Colt 1911.

I'll leave the AR tips for others......I prefer AK-47s.
