mp3 players

I’ve had a Creative Zen micro for about 18 months, no problems. Pretty easy to use, good play time, FM radio, seems like more options for music formats than ipods. The down sides I have found is there aren’t nearly as many accessories available as for the more popular ipod and you need a USB cable or separate charger.

If you get an ipod consider the service plan. daughter had a 20 gig and killed it she got a brand new one in and out at the apple store when they found out it had a dead disc, the newer Nanos are solid state, no whirling disc drive in side to kill and I was talking to a guy who has done some R&D for apple and is a bit of a wild man, His last nano went kayaking in the columbia river gorge and lived, snow boarding all over the rockies, and spent a great deal of last summer on his mountain bike( and off it judging from the strawberries that guy had on his legs and elbows,) i figured then it must be ok, just heard from a guy who does desert racing on a 4 wheeler and he says his original nano is still working after two years of beating the heck out of it.

If you have LOTS of music formats - I'd recommend iAudio, especially the U2 and U3 (for iPod shuffle size, though more square in cross-section) or Creative Zen for larger offerings.
Good luck.

JFYI -

I took a steep but pretty fast learning curve about mp3 when I first got my cheapo mp3 player (see Post #16 ).

A lot of the initial information I got came from the Wikipedia. Here are a couple of useful links -

MP3 at Wikipedia for most players other than iPod.

AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) for iPods.

and maybe of some interest -

Digital Audio Player at Wikipedia

Hope some of this helps.....
