MPT lands in Hawaii!

Just placed the order for this EDC from Knife Center. Finally, my dream come true.

Aloha Ktint,

Man, I will be losing over this...PLEASE let us know your thoughts once the MPT arrives. I pray it will be a dream knife for you...until then...

God bless:cool:

Gracias for the pix folks- Looks good- that's at the top of the "short list".
Hey Daywalker - any more details on the other FB in the photo? Any of those available?
cheers,
Mike

Aloha Rugger,

Thanks, and yes, the PMK is available from www.chaxknives.com...choose your handle material, steel, etc...Chase is a great man, and a heckuva nice guy!

God bless:cool:

quote from Chad:"One thing I am confused about is the grip. Not sure why Boker opted for the "ribbed pattern", it was supposed to be like gun checkering. All in all, it is okay, but just unexpected on the production model."I know we talked about this knife coming thru with the checkering on the handle.....At the time of our discussion when you told me about the checkering I was like..huh...I really liked the ribbed pattern idea...and was a bit disappointed to here that it would be done with the checkering...

I feel while checkering does have some visual appeal...it has always felt strange in the hand...almost too sticky (making it difficult to change grip positions) and at the same time a little slippery...Checkering when applied to rubber or plastic does not mimick the same feel or function as it does in metal, as in the backstrap of certain firearms, or the top of the hammer or cylinder release latch found on certain revolvers. I know what effect you were trying to achieve but I can't tell you how happy I am that Boker decided to produce this knife with the ribbed pattern...

I can only think they went with the ribbed pattern cause it should create a better tactical gripping surface and at the same time it gives the knife a look like no other knife on the market....The success of the Subcom F design is proff that people are willing to give a knife a chance even if it's a little different from the rest of the pack. The individuality that ribbed pattern makes is just plain functional, interesting besides attractive....I vote yes on the ribbing...From a SD point of view it's just what I would have done to make this knife the winner I already know it's going to be.....Doc:D
PS...I want my MPT and my MTV:thumbup:

Aloha SSifu,

I know, I know...the ribs do prevent rearward and forward slippage, I was just confused is all.;) Lemme tell ya though, this knife is VERY different from the rest of the pack for sure!!!:D

God bless Knifebro:cool:

Sorry about that. :o

Looks good Sir Chad. Only your design is going to coax me into getting another American tanto tip. :D

Aloha zen'bro!

No apologies my Mazinga Z collectin', diaper changing, pantothenic acid & sleep deprived knifebro! ( ). I love using the Hissatsu...I have said it time and time again, it's one of my fave fixies!!! However, when I carried it during yardwork, and leaned a certain way, or whatever and got poked by the handle, the neighbors must've thought I was really excited about the new Simpson's the movie because I got poked by the handle, I let out one o' them Homer, "D'Oh!":p

I think you may have to fob this puppy though...

Hey, congrats again and again...God bless and take care:cool:

Looks nice! Seems like the handle is made for a 3-finger grip. How is the comfort of the handle? Do the ridges feel good/comfortable? Is the middle material softer as Boker described a while back?...or just textured/grippy?

Aloha JSR,

Yep, for big mitts, three fingers for sure...however, small to medium hands like mine can get a "three and half a pinky on it" grip. One of my co-workers is 6'2" and he said he'd just fob it and it'd be alright for his hand size, BUT in the reverse grip, he said it was "perfect".
Handle is comfy, but really, I cannot tell a difference regarding the two materials used during use. It is grippy though!

God bless and thanks for chiming in!

So I guess it got there and you didn't even let me know bro! Where's the love? Didn't I give you the tip on it?
Looks good, stop by so I can check it out, I'm still at komo.

Hi Chad,
congrats to your new design!
In Germany the MPTs are sold out, right after putting them into our warehouse. The people are like the compact size and the serious blade length and geometry.
Hope to see you one day in Nuremberg (IWA Show) or in our HQ in Solingen!

Howzit bro!

Hey, sorry man...and please don't say, "I'm still at Komo." I said that for over three years!:thumbdn::mad:

Was good to see ya the other day, and glad you approved of the MPT! Trippy, eh? You got to see this thing go from paper to steel!!!;)

Take care bro, watch your 1-12, and God bless:cool:

Alohallo Tobias!

Great seeing you here, and a great forum name!:p I am VERY happy the folks there are enjoying the MPT. I am also glad you got to see this one not only go from "the screen" to steel, but you got to play with the proto built for me by chaxknives!

Take care my friend, and I would have to be heavily sedated to see you in Germany!

God bless and mahalo!

Hi Chad,
thanks for the warm welcome to this forum.
Yes, you're right. Building some Protos and evaluate them is the best way to develope a knife.
People in Germany would love to see you on some tradeshow, cause you are a kind of celeb here ;-))
PLease send me your contact information again via email... I think, we should go one step further...

Wow Daywalker, I hope you follow up on the invitation to Germany. Help build your following, enjoy a new culture, make new friends...near limitless opportunities.

I've seen it in the local gunshop, recently, I had no idea it was out already...

Anyone got good advise on how to carry it, for a "civilian'? I mean, how do you use that tek-lok stuff, belts and all that...?? Basically, what gear do you need to take advantage of the tek-lok "system" ?

The knife looks nice, I have not yet decided to buy it though (sorry to sat). I'll probably need to "test-fit" it a bit more. Although I do like the CLB-designs :).

Cheers !

Hi Flint & Steel
the mini tek lok is included with the knive and screws to fix it to the sheath.
This small tek lock is for waist belts up to 1,5 inch wide (3,7 cm) .
You can fix the tek lok in horizontal vertical or diagonal to the waist belt .

Furthermore you can fix the knive looping the sheath with for example paracord to a belt or a vest Whatever you want to fix it to. (look at the bottom pictures in my thread MPT PE Gray First impressions).
The small tek lok is to narrow for my waistbelts so i'm looking for a place were i can find these rubber IWB Belt loops as i find the larger tek lock to obstrusive for the little sheath.

I can manage to keep the knive with sheath inside my cargo jeans. Also you can carry it loose inside the waist bound of your pants with a piece of coard long enough to fix to a loop on your waistband trousers. Just like Fred Perrin i think introduced this kind of carry. (i''m not shure if he came up with this idea.)

Take Care Maarten :)

Aloha Daywalker,

How is your MPT going to the daily carry????

Mine is doin just fine:)

On messerforum.net they are very possitive.

Their are some critical remarks but they don't concern the overall design.

These remarks concern the jimping on the spine and if the Gray version like mine will come in a CE configuration.

I'll have to agree on the spine jimping . To me it feels a bit slippery and a thumb could slide at agressive use maybe a more spyderco 'ish jimping like on the latest D4 Caly 3 would be better. HOWEVER as the handle rests in your palm i would not worry about it as your palm rest prevents your thumb from slipping. The handle is small enough to result that the back of your hand prevent the thumb and forehand from slippin. Also the handle material prevents that so even without the spine jimping it still is very safe and reliable. AND the deep recoil prevents this. Some people start nagging before using...

Greetings from the netherlands and rustig aan...
:p

Aloha ALL,

Hey zen'bro...like I said, I would have to be HEAVILY sedated to go flying off to Germany. Perhaps a knock on the noggin' with your Magic Hewmet oughta do it!:p

Hey Flint&Steel, thanks for your interest in the MPT. The Tek Lok is as Maarten described, and carry options are many. I got a buddy who is torn as to which MPT to carry, so he carries both. PE Gray at the small of his back, and the Black CE in a weak side cross draw.

Hey jaislandboy!
Yeah...I cannot wait to see your pimped MPT! ;)

Hey Maarten, MPT's are doing fine and performing better than expected. One thing I find odd is that the secondary edge, i.e. "tip" gets SUPER sharp. I owned a lot of "Americanized Tanto" knives, and the I could never get the tips as sharp as on the MPT. This is a plus because I never really placed a lot of emphasis on the secondary edge...

Recurve portion: I am loving it. In fact, I used the Gray PE to cut up an old couch that had to get thrown over the railing into my yard AFTER cutting it in half with a saw.:D It went through the materials of the couch very easily, and I actually ran the edge dull, probably from all the staples I was hitting.:o Resharpening was easy, and the edge came back quick...especially after a strop on my Spyderco 701 "sheath" for the stones.

As for the texturing on the spine...well...any texturing can get slippery, and I too, would have preferred the jimping like on the Trance. However, after ripping up that couch today...I am not worried about slippage.;)

You take care also, and thanks for the feedback. As for your MPT's...Veel plezier ermee!!!

God bless you guys, and mahalo MUCH:thumbup:

Whoops...forgot my pics of my Gray PE!
