We regret to inform you that Mr. Bob Taylor passed away on 27 August 2025.

Bob was the founder of REKAT cutlery, an experienced Martial Artist and he served our country during the Viet Nam war. He created some very unique knife designs during his career, he invented the "Rolling Lock", and he was a friend of mine for 20+ years. We'll miss him.

Rob Simonich introduced him to me many years ago at one of the Blade Shows. (I miss Rob every day.)

I still have my REKAT Pioneer.

RIP Bob. You were a unique character.

Oh nooooooo! I loved REKAT knives and was hoping so much for a resurgence. He fixed up a couple of my knives and threw in some extras every time. Was very interesting to speak to on the phone.

RIP, and condolences to his family and friends.

Another lost legend, I'm glad I have quite a few of his pieces to feature in my daily videos...still looking for a Spyderco "Warrior" with the Janich booklet to complete the Warrior set and be able to give more details🥰

RIP Bob! Spoke many times back in the day. I connected thru Randy Wanner. I'm a huge fan of the Hobbit Warrior design.

It was just last week I learned of Bob's passing.

We last visited over lunch in Idaho while I was meeting with one of my SOCOM Care Coalition patients who lived nearby. As expected it was a fun, lively conversation!

I have many memories of Bob - some highlights include -

- His involvement in one manner or another with both Fighting Knives and Full Contact magazines which I founded and was chief editor of.
- His attendance of Al Mar's memorial ceremony in Lake Oswego
- My training with the AMK Warrior with he and Randy Wanner at a past SOF convention
- Being asked by Bob to participate in the TRS disarming / defensive tactics video they made (it was both instructional and great fun).

It is fitting he will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

Note: I would add his longtime friend and associate, Randy Wanner, was diagnosed with dementia roughly five years ago. He was placed in a nursing home by his son. I recently sent a note to the son and have not heard back - my sense is Randy has also passed away but this is not confirmed.

RIP, Warrior, RIP.
