So…to preference this, I’ve been super busy getting ready for state inspections at my place of work. We work on school buses but with the nationwide shortage of drivers, we, as mechanics must fill in and drive. That leaves only summer time to fix and repair the buses to state standards, plus all the other little things that state doesn’t cover. That being said, I’ve also got an ever growing list of knives to make for my many customers.

All of that to say this, I apologize for taking so long to get this post up and running. There may be sputters in between posts where I cross over to the earlier GAW posts to get info on knives in this collection. I’ll post pics later this evening but for those wishing to take part, please go ahead and post IM IN to get entered in. The contest will run from now until next Friday night 11:59pm CST. That will give a little over a week (by a few hours) for all who wish to join. Cheers and may the odds be ever in your favor!

Edit to add…I believe you have to be a gold member or higher if I remember right. Other members please correct me if I’m wrong.

there's a shortage of schoolbus drivers?!? 🤯😳
Not surprising. 🙄
I retired from that line of work during "Daddy" Bush's term, after he pulled a "Ronny" and cut federal aid to schools.
In So. Cal, where I started, President Ronny cut the Fed Budget to the San Bernardino County School District by $5 or $6 million bucks.
The San Bernardino County School district and the contract bus company I worked for (ARA Transportation) got together, and determined if they got rid of all the senior drivers (them with 3+ years driving for the company) they would save $7 million. (ARA Transportation operated all the schoolbusses in San Bernardino county ... at least all those going to public schools.)
I was a senior driver. I got fired, in late '78 or early '79, "thanks" to the budget cuts, route consolidations, and increasing the distance from the school, before the kids were eligable to ride the bus.
I had moved back to Iowa about 2 years after losing that job, and was driving for the Camanche Community School District, when "Daddy Bush" did his schoo budget cuts. (bus yard was at the elementary & Junior High building I had attended decades earlier. The principal at the school was the same one I had. They built a new Elementary and junior high a year or two after he retired.)
"Thanks" to "Daddy" Bush's cuts, and route consolidations, I lost my job again. Camanche was "Last Hired - First Fired". I was last hired, by something like 6 or 7 minutes. 🤨

I decided not to drive school bus again after that. When I moved to FL, and transferred my DL to FL, I let the passenger endorsement on my CDL go.

I'm fully retired now, and don't even have a DL now. (no need for one - no car/pickup/motorcycle, and no desire for one made post 1980, plus I cannot afford to register, feed, maintain, and insure one, anyway. 😐)

Here is what will arrive at the lucky person’s door. I had to add an extra or two to compensate for the ones I swapped out due to not having an equal match. There’s some goodies in there. Please PM me if you have any questions and I’ll answer to the best of my ability. Since most are from the previous post, please cross reference the GAW post #122 for the knives still in there. I’m sorry I can’t label each one with descriptions due to my busy schedule.

I switched out the acrylic folder for the CRKT and Boker.
IMG_9851.jpeg
This CRKT minimalist for the dark brown case folder.
IMG_9850.jpeg
This CRKT fossil for this folder.
IMG_9849.jpeg
This SW boot knife for the case copperhead

And finally this multitool w/custom leather sheath(made by me) for the peanut Case knife.

Please don’t judge me too harshly on my trade out decisions. The Boker I threw in to offset any trade variations.

All I’m going to say is that this pass around box is for traditional knives, not tactical stuff, and if you have to ask people to accept what you did, then you know that you probably did something wrong.
I never read that anywhere in the rules, and there were half a dozen fixed blades in there when I got it along with some other kind of little prybar tool thing.

Also, I don’t think I did anything wrong. I added an addition blade in case there was a possible difference in blade values. I didn’t have to do that but I did.

Let’s leave this thread open to people wanting to get in on the GAW please and not personal comments. If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to PM me next time. Thanks

Due to messages about unequal value (even though I used resources to check knife values-guess my resources were wrong), I’m going to add a limited edition folder to the mix to eliminate any doubt I’m an upright guy. I’ll be withholding from any future drawing for this GAW due to the scrutiny I received.

Not necessarily gold membership just a paid membership.
Also it used to be that you should have at least 50 posts in the Traditional forum showing that you are a person really interested in traditional kind of knives. Not so much just looking for giveaways.

I honestly wasn’t looking for giveaways. I had refreshed my new posts page and saw the GAW. I clicked on it and started reading and thought I had a handle on what was going on. Completely didn’t think I would win anyways due to the fact I almost never win anything. I appreciate that the OP of the last one trusted me enough to put me in the drawing. When I saw it said said traditional folders AND fixed blades, I thought it was two separate things.

Again, when I pick a winner, I’m writing off this GAW in the future and putting it in my knowledge bank as a lesson learned.

please don't be so hard on yourself. people misunderstand things all the time. just wait until you are close to 80yrs old. mistakes come every day.

As promised, I’m throwing this limited edition folder in the mix. Hopefully someone will love this as much as I have.
This is a David Yellowhorse Sacred Buffalo silver series featuring sterling silver scales, blue turquoise, black jet, and orange spiny oyster stone inlays. Because of its value I’ll be removing the “tactical” Boker and blue/black CRKT. This knife has been the gem of my knives for several years. I hope and pray whoever gets it will treasure it for years to come.
